you cannot connect these phones to a home phone line they can only be connected to a network, and you will eather need to load the SIP firmware on the phone and have a SIP provider or use a call centre manager such as Cisco or asterisk, but these phone require a Ethernet connection they cannot be plugged into a home line. Connecting a hub or switch to the "PC" port on the back of the phone is not a recommended best practice by Cisco as the IP phone does not support spanning tree protocol.
