I don't know. Having said that, I would sugg3est you smack the bolt a good single solid blow then try RH again. BTW - Lefty Loosey ... Righty - Tighty.

I would expect it will be on very tight ... you might want to spray a product called Liquid Wrench or other penetrating oil on the bolt and let it sit for a while before you try again.

Try not to break it ... but if you do ... it is not the end of the world. You can drill it and use an "easy out" to remove the broken stud from the hole. Get help on easy out and drill size before you start if it gets to this point.

Is the nut that holds the pulley on the mandrel lh or rh thread

Replaced mine yesterday
RH thread, so counter clockwise to remove,
There should be enough thread exposed for you to confirm that.
I find that the air impact wrench is a lot easier than by hand for removing these.

I wish to remove the fan impeller to clean behind it but the bolt is not budging & I don't want to damage it. I am assuming it's a normal LH thread to undo the bolt but could it be a RH thread?

I read something yesterday about removing the radiator fan blades. I think they said the nuts do turn the opposite way.

I thint it was on www.youtube.com
Search for "Civic Radiator Replacement"
Hope this helps.
