The replacement compressor kit is #12002633 from Amana (Now Whirlpool).
In this kit are the following New model compressor, relay/capacitor, jumper and instructions.
Kenmore does not make appliances rather all of the other manufacturers produce for them.
That part number is for Whirlpool Start Relay/Capacitor and as long as the compressor is the right horsepower for the relay it makes no difference who made it. (Techumseh or Embraco)
Testimonial: "thanks so much! quick and thorough response to my question"
The replacement compressor is Embraco made by Whirlpool
spoke at length w/commercial refrigeration specialist. One alternative to regular compressor replacement (which he initially offered w/embraco compressor) was to install lager american made compressor (forget the brand) and larger cooling hose. Would u recommend? Or would I be better off just springing for a new fridge? Most new friges only come w/1 yr warranty standard. compressor Rebuild could come with 5 yr warranty 4 an additional $99. warranty. Cost would b around $800. tho. On this existing frige ive already w/in 3 years replaced circuitboard & now this. But it looks good lol.
One guy says NOW amana makes best bottom freezer but I still see tons of complaints
2nd question......what mid range refrigerator do you recommend for reliability? Dont want to pay much over $1000. dont want side by side. top bottom fine & dont want/ need icemaker.
less complicated and ez repair good warranty hi priority. thanks very much

It sounds like you are hearing the overload on the compressor closing. When the overload closes the relay tries to start the compressor (that might be the buzzing sound) and if the compressor doesn't start the overload opens and turns the compressor off. You will need to replace the relay on the compressor.
Hi,
Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of
a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go
wrong.
If
you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two
tips.
If your refrigerator is running but warm, then...
Check
out these tips that I wrote about that... it is a great place to
start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do
rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for
you...
