Amana abb2224dew repairman installed part # 8201786. This was to replace the compressor start up. Worked for a week, then same buzz click sequence occurs. Looked up part number. Part is for mostly kenmore side by side. One web site showed the 1st page of instructions which also said it was meant for use with egy 80 or egy90 type compressor.(I think this is an embraco compressor ) My compressor is tecumseh. (115v 60hz/100v50hz) If you look up my amana model a completely different part is called for. Could this be the reason for my continuing problems? Spoke w/repairman when his part failed & he said I need a new compressor or new fridge. Only since that conversation did I look up the part and notice it is not meant for my amana. Im sure if/when I call him back he will say he uses this part because it is a better quality part.....so, wonder what u experts say before I contact him. thanks!!!! ps I have read about all the problems with tecumseh compressors, so I know this may not resolve the problem, it may be a bad compressor but would like the best chance for success b4 throwing away a perfect looking 6 yr old fridge. thanks for your help/opinions

The replacement compressor kit is #12002633 from Amana (Now Whirlpool).
In this kit are the following New model compressor, relay/capacitor, jumper and instructions.
Kenmore does not make appliances rather all of the other manufacturers produce for them.
That part number is for Whirlpool Start Relay/Capacitor and as long as the compressor is the right horsepower for the relay it makes no difference who made it. (Techumseh or Embraco)

spoke at length w/commercial refrigeration specialist. One alternative to regular compressor replacement (which he initially offered w/embraco compressor) was to install lager american made compressor (forget the brand) and larger cooling hose. Would u recommend? Or would I be better off just springing for a new fridge? Most new friges only come w/1 yr warranty standard. compressor Rebuild could come with 5 yr warranty 4 an additional $99. warranty. Cost would b around $800. tho. On this existing frige ive already w/in 3 years replaced circuitboard & now this. But it looks good lol.

One guy says NOW amana makes best bottom freezer but I still see tons of complaints

2nd question......what mid range refrigerator do you recommend for reliability? Dont want to pay much over $1000. dont want side by side. top bottom fine & dont want/ need icemaker.
less complicated and ez repair good warranty hi priority. thanks very much

A amana French door fridge no fan water or.icemaker lights come on but no fan turning on or cold

Many Amana model fridges have the freezer fan wired through the bi-metal thermostat that is clipped to the evaporator. Either your compressor has a bad start device and that is why it is not cooling, or the compressor IS running and the unit has lost its refrigerant charge. Running compressor with no cooling = buy a new fridge.
Compressor hot, but not running = start relay replacement to get the compressor going. Start Device 8201786

It sounds like you are hearing the overload on the compressor closing. When the overload closes the relay tries to start the compressor (that might be the buzzing sound) and if the compressor doesn't start the overload opens and turns the compressor off. You will need to replace the relay on the compressor.

Generally the capacitor doesn't need to be replaced. I think that this part number contains both. 67005560. Est.$32.00. Any appliance repair parts house. I want you to look at the label on the compressor. Does it have a picture of an Indian that says Tecumseh? If it does, don't waste your money on the part. Put it towards a new refrigerator. Sorry.

My frig is making a buzzing sound

Well if the buzzing is coming from the compressor area then that could very well be the compressor relay. If the buzzing is coming from inside you might very well have ice building up, maybe a defrost problem causing the evap fan to maybe rub some ice. if it gets worse and the fresh food compartment begins to suffer and warm up then maybe a bad heater or defrost thermistat. All these components and a way to check em all can be found in this AMANA BOTTOM MOUNT SERVICE MANUAL

Clicking, buzzing, compressor too hot, thawed out

Sounds like the compressor is in thermal overload. Let it cool down completely and meter the starting amperage on start to run. The compressor could be seized or it's windings could be shorted to ground (checking the resistance between the windings terminals on the compressor while unplugged will determine this.).
