Dryer will not start after bulb burned out.

I have a 4 year old Whirlpool Dryer Duet model number GEW9200LW1 and was doing several loads of laundry....and when I went to do the next load, the light went out in the dryer and the dryer is locked in a mode whereby I cannot start the dryer. It just gives a few beeps and keeps blinking. I tried to restart by changing the bulb, clearing everything and unplugging the dryer, but it is caught in this cycle. Also, the light stays on when the door is closed. Any suggestions?

Catriver, The door closes on a plunger that is attached to the frame of the dryer. When the door is closed the plunger pushes in. The plunger is under a rubber cover. The plunger seems to be of the same type that is attached to the car chasis and when the door closes it turns off the dome light.

Our 4 year old dryer(gew9200lw1) had a burned out heating coil that I replaced do to the dryer filling up with lint!. I was told that this is a common occurance with these dryers and to clean them at least once or twice per year. Removing the doors and panels and clean inside & out.

A new problem started yesterday. The dryer quit and will not start. I did all the diagnostic test according to the maintenance tech sheets provided and everything seemed to check out. Until- I discovered that a QUARTER had fallen through the lint screen, when it was opened, and lodged on the thermal fuse located on the blower exhaust housing. I have power everywhere but when I try to start the dryer it just clicks. I suspect that the circuit board(control board) has a burnt diode, fuse or something that is preventing it from starting??

I have the same problem. My duet dryer bulb went out and at the same time the dryer won't start either. If I close the door it just beeps twice and then flashes.

Moch, the fact that the light is staying on when the door is closed leads me to believe that the door switch is the culprit. If that switch is not made you will not start. See if the pin is broken off. Start there and let me know. Catriver.

My whirlpoolduet dryer is on control lock how do I unlock it model # gew9200lw1

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

This is a common issue with Whirlpool Duet however, your whirlpool duet needs a reset to resolve the control lock problem. Press and hold the END OF CYCLE/CYCLE SIGNAL button for 15 seconds to reset the control. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Whirlpool duet dryer model # GEW9200LW1, when powering up goes directly to touch up, and will not start. thermal fuse ok

Dirty moisture sensing strips? Have you tried cleaning them with windex?e03f8f0.jpg

Number 34 these measure resistance by picking up wetness from the clothes. Dryer sheets can coat these with a non penatrable film which fools the brain into thinking them clothes is dry so it moves towards the cooldown mode and shuts off with wet clothes. Clean them sensor strips real good and party on!

Does anyone have any idea when a Whirlpool Duet GEW9200LW1 Dryer was made? Trying to get an idea on a used one that I'm looking to purchase.

The model number tells only the year that model is introduced but the serial number tells the year and the week of production.

Replace heating element for Duet Dryer GEW9200LW1

First disconnect the power to the dryer by unplugging it from the wall. Then remove the 3 screws on the lower panel of the dryer. This should expose the heating element in a metal housing on the right side of the dryer. Disconnect the 2 wires going to the heating element and slide it out of the housing. The heating element part number is 3387747.

How old is the ghw9100lw1 washer and the gew9200lw1 dryer

The manufactured date is deterimed by the SERIAL NUMBER on these appliances. The following link explains how to determine the age of Whirlpool manufactured appliances:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r2880489-determining_age_whirlpool_appliance

The first two NUMBERS of the serial number determines the week it was manufactured. The last digit before the numbers, determines the year. If you still have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: The serial number criteria is for all appliances manufactured by Whirlpool. Your washer and dryer will use the same format.

Whirlpool Duet dryer - "burn marks", "out of round" drum

It's not really BURN marks - it is the adhesive used to affix the felt. You can substitute for silicone to remedy this problem.

Hi.
To be sure the element is not faulty, you need to have it tested for continuity, and for an earth fault.
