Yes, pulling out crown prolongs battery life, but this is only for allmost unnoticeable period of time.
With the seconds hand there are only one solution- you have to take your watch to the nearest watchmaker as you will not be able to deal with it without appropriate knowledge and skills.
There can be two reasons why the seconds hand is jumping:
1) Fault within integrated circuit ( watch 'brain' is not giving an impulse in a specific period of time),
2) Few teeth may be damaged on second wheel as well as there can be tiny dirt particles sticking onto it.
Both need attention of professional.
If that seconds hand do not annoy you too much, wait till the watch needs battery replacement and then replace battery and check the watch at once. It will be cheaper then to do both jobs separately.
SOURCE: Guess Watch's stop watch is broken?
it's not broken.
let's call the top stopwatch button "a" and the bottom stopwatch button "b." eg, for normal stop watch function press "a" to start timing, press "a" to stop timing, and press "b" to reset.
to reset: press button "a" and "b" simultaneously and release (an easy way to do this is press and hold down "b" then press "a" and release both). this will send both hands spinning. next press "a" intermittently until the second-hand is back to it's desired reset location. then, likewise, press "b" intermittently until the minute hand is zeroed. now with both hands at the correct reset location, again press and release "a" and "b" simultaneously to save these resets and return the watch to normal function mode.

If it is a new watch then have you still got the user manual?
I have seen some watch instructions detailing how to do want you want to do, so it might be a common problem.
If you cannot sort it out and have a Kenneth Cole dealer near you, then take it in and discuss it with them.
Their web site does not seem to have any instruction manuals for downloading , so I can't read the instructions for myself but if phone them on 1 800 KEN COLE (536-26530), then they may be able to help you.

The larger second hand on the Pulsar PF8036 is part of the stopwatch feature. The upper button starts/stops the stopwatch feature, and the lower button operates the lap/reset function. Why they made the larger hand work only with the stopwatch instead of the smaller hand to the left is beyond me, but that's how it is designed.
