As one of the most popular and welcomed media players on Windows operating system, Windows Media Player has been used as the default media player by many Windows users for a long time. But its supporting formats are quite limited. So what to do when your WMP can' play some files? You can install some codec packs to WMP, or you can get a video converter tool which can convert many video formats. Or you can try Leawo Blu-ray Player which can support all the formats that have been mentioned above.
What I do is download the klite codec mega pack and be sure to check Windows Media Player as one of the players to use it on when you download klite in the configurations. Or you can go and get VLC media player which has all the codecs you will need to play these files. This is what I use. So I know it works. Here are the links below. I hope that this assisted you. Thanks for using FixYa! John
1. Klite Codecs
2. VLC Media Player
yes vlc is a good player but i have trouble playing some new movies with it...... the problems are sound is alright but video is blank.........and for some movies video comes but sound and video are not synchronized....sound lags behind 2-3 seconds.....
I usually have issues as well with some of the movies I download as well VLC has a sinc setting with its player to sink sound and video together. I do not remember where the setting is it is in preferences. Also movies downloaded off the Internet are often bad downloads as well where it is the uploaders who do the wrong settings. I usually do not have issues with Klaxon movies they can be found at btjunkie.org just type in klaxon in the search box at btjumnkie.org you will love the movies there as well. Or FXG is another one who uploads great films. Thanks for using FixYa! John
VLC player have trouble, windows media player can play WMV,AVI....you can convert u all any video format to WMV or AVI for windows media player by Enolsoft video converter.http://www.enolsoft.com/video-converter....
I use WinAvi for my conversions it is about half hour to complete and not as large or so many intrusive options to deal with. This is why I download the codec pak for Windows Media Player as well it will do better with all the codecs there with WMP. Glad that you were able to solve your issue. Thanks for using FixYa! I will check out that link as well thanks, John
i am currently using wmp 11 with media player codec pack 3.9.9 ...it is working great with all the formats..avi + xvid + divx + any other movies....but i am having only one problem with it ..it plays the video of .mkv format but there is no sound(only for .mkv ) ...Sir John Plz check it ...and help how can i get the sound with .mkv format movies...
You know that is a great question? I do not use that format never have so I'm pretty much at a glitch as you are. Not really interested in using it either I use what works for me. It is cool though to try different formats and applications to run movies with or convert them. When you solve that issue please send me the information when you learn it if you wish. Thanks for using FixYa! John
