The power of my cuisinart kettle keeps cycling. I turn it on, then a few seconds later it turns itself off. Then I turn it back on.... And so on until the water is boiled. Basically it shuts off before the water is boiled and I have to keep turning it back on. It's one of the cuisinart cordless models.

SOURCE: kettle shuts off before boiling?

This is caused by a defective overload switch inbuilt in the kettle, sometimes the senitivity is higher than factory settings causing it to trip and reset several times before coming to boil. probably better to put up with it than going in for a costly repair.

SOURCE: kettle lights but doesn't boil

Most likely the thermo fuse is blown.

You have to take the kettle apart and see the spec for the thermo fuse. You can get these at most any electronics parts supplier for appliances.

To change the thermo fuse you will need the proper crimp type connectors and the crimp tool. This is not able to be soldered. It runs too hot, and soldering in a circuit close to a heating element is not able to be used.

Before changing the thermo fuse, you can test it with an ohm meter. It should typicaly read about 0.1 to 0.2 ohms. The heating element resistance should typicaly read about 8 to 12 ohms.

If the heating element reads below 6 to 7 ohms on a well calibrated ohm meter, or above 15 ohms, it is defective.

If the thermo fuse is blown, the kettle may have been left running when boiled out and over heated, or there is a short in the heating element.

If you feel that you are not comfortable to do this type of repair, it would be best to give the kettle out to an appliance service centre to have it serviced.

When you change the thermo fuse, and if it blows again the heating element is probably damaged. It must be replaced if possible, or if worth the cost.

On the other hand, if the kettle is more than a few years old and you don't want to go to all this trouble, you may want to consider to simply get a new one.

Hi, It could well be the power supply that is in the back of your set. Have a repairman check it out. It's not a do it yourself thing. Good luck.

How to fix a kettle when the power switch switches off before boiling point?

There can be several causes. In many cases the power switch is thermo or current tripped, It is like a thermo circuit breaker.

The power switch itself may have to be changed.
The element is pulling too much current.
The thermostat may be defective.

Contact the manufacture to find out where you can buy spare parts to try. You will require the proper connectors, and crimp tools to work inside of these. Also, you will require a sound knowledge of how these appliances work, and the safe way of servicing them.

Because of the way you asked the question, I would think you are not familiar with how to service these devices. I would suggest to give the kettle to a service rep, or to purchase a new one. There are safety issues when servicing appliances.

I have a new Bellini electric kettle. When I turn the kettle on, it starts to boil for a few seconds and then turns itself off. It will boil if I hold the "button" down for a while until it...

Unfortunately the problem is in the switch mechanism, and will need to be replaced to correct the problem. My sense is it would be cheaper to replace the kettle than trying to find somebody to repair it.

Cuisinart coffeemaker DCC-450 switch keeps turning off by itself.

There is a defect with your coffee maker. It uses a momentary switch, but is supposed to stay on for 30 minutes. I believe there is a common failure due to heat sensitivity of an IC on the board. I suspect this is a timer chip. See my other postings on this.

Brews most of the water than stops and shuts itself off

Cuisinart Coffeemaker Decalcification Process

Run 2 cups distilled white vinegar and 2 cups water through the system - brew it like it was regular coffee. Then run plain water through the coffemaker to rinse the vinegar out and make sure the decalcification was successful. Repeat as needed. Don't forget to remove the charcoal water filters first.

Tv cuts off and green light flashes

If your set was manufactured around July 2005, you may need a firmware upgrade to solve this issue. On the Sony website you can enter your model # and serial # to see if you TV is affected. If so, it is easy to have done and may be free from Sony. It sounds like the issue they described in the writeup on the required formware update. I had mine done within few months of when i bought it (purchased in Dec 2005) and it has been working flawlessly since.

Good luck!
