How to I get the TV to show TV input. Show me everything else?

Hi EA.

Some of the answer will depend on the particular model of TV you have. Most flat panel TVs have multiple possible inputs, with some array of choices like HDMI 1, HDMI 2, Component, VGA, Cable that you can toggle through with your remote.

Most of them, in my experience, also will check first for inputs from the different components, and skip them if they don't show a video signal. In some cases, as was the case with my past Mitsubishi rear projection TV, each input channel had an option for either showing it or skipping it when cycling through inputs - that way if you just had Cable and a DVD player, you didn't have to cycle through 8 other inputs each time you switched.

If you're saying that a VGA input to the TV shows up fine on the screen, but other inputs don't, then that narrows it down and shows that the screen is working OK. I'm not completely clear then whether you have things plugged into other inputs like HDMI or component. if nothing else is plugged in, I'd guess the system detects no inputs from those ports and ignores them. If they are plugged in, but you don't see them, then you likely will need to activate or toggle those particular channels to be included amongst selections.

Hoping this helps, and Happy Holidays!

Sony STR-DG710

try to reset the tv throught the menu options, if that fails then the video inputs or video components in the tv needs repaired, if you have a "S Video" input you could use that or have the TV repaired.

Guys, Recently i got LG 22" LCD TV. It has VGA port and HDMI port. When i connected my CPU cable toLCD via VGA port it didn't show anything, :"( i checked input MENU on remote then it shows only 4...

HDMI [High Definition Multimedia Interface]. VGA [Video Graphics Array]. AV [Audio Video]. By these definitions itself talk to you about the inputs your TV have; and it do not support VGA. Output from PC is VGA. Without a VGA input with the TV, you can't connect the PC to TV. I think I'm clear. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

I have a 47" Visio 1080p. Tv is always set at hdmi

AV inputs are for standard analog video which is 480i. HDMI and Component inputs are the high definition inputs that run at either 1080i or 1080p You won't ever get 1080i or p through AV inputs.

Vchip rest. Inputs won't show HDMI

Make sure you have a good hdmi cable, and make sure you have a signal. Try another HDMI slot, and see if that helps. If nothing works, unplug the HDMI inputs and turn the set off overnight. Then plug each HDMI plug in one at at time, and turn the device on. This helped in a couple of instances I know of.
Since I don't know the model you have, the following blog may or may not be helpful to you:

Good luck, and hope this helps.

How do i connect a playstation 3 to a philips tv

The PlayStation 3 (PS3) is a high-definition gaming console that supports both standard AV connections and high-resolution connections (such as HDMI). Most of the older Philips TVs come with a standard AV input. Newer, flat-panel Philips TVs include standard AV inputs and high-resolution inputs. To get the best video quality out of your PS3, using an HDMI connection is recommended if the option is available. The PS3 does not include an HDMI cable, only a standard AV cable

Standard AV
  • 1 Turn off the PS3.
  • 2 Connect the flat end of the PS3 AV cable into the "AV Multi Out" port on the back of the PS3.
  • 3 Connect the "red," "white" and "yellow" prongs on the opposite end of the PS3 AV cable into the corresponding "red," "white" and "yellow" AV inputs on the TV (usually located on the side or in the back).
  • 4 Press the "Source" button on the Philips TV remote.
  • 5 Select the "AV" video display mode.
  • 6 Turn on the PS3. The PS3 logo will appear on the screen.
  • HDMI Connection

My 52" Toshiba DLP just dropped an HDMI connection... There are two connectors on the back, both have worked fine until just now when one disappeared from the inputs menu on the screen.

    Hi,
I'm not sure about your tv model as question post shows it is Toshiba 52HM84 that has one HDMI input at rear and you said 3 HDMI inputs in your tv.
Please unplug tv from wall socket for minute or so to get it reset, replug back in, turn it On and check its HDMI inputs appear or not.
Also check for Reset option in Menu for factory default settings that can also help you to get back disappeared HDMI inputs.
If all that does not solve the issue then it seems hardware problem with HDMI circuit board and tv repairman is needed for visual check to get it fix.
Hope these info will help you.
    Thanks.
