Probably a crankcase leak, but first clean and adjust carburetor.

Hi Dennis
Check to make sure the governor spring has not fallen off, broken, etc. from the frame of the engine.
Also make sure that the governor blade is not jammed with leaves, weeds, sticks, etc.

Petrol weed eater will not start. Alomost starts

Hi Mark, I own a shop, we will not work on ryobi, have you gotten 2 seasons out of it? If so thats probably as good as it gets. But you can check carb settings. In the USA they come with limiters on the adjustment screws, not too much you can do(break them off) back your adjustments counter clockwise 1half turn.

What is the oil/gas ratio for a Ryobi RY30550 weedeater? 50:1? Thanks

50:1 is too high. That is normally for a chainsaw which is much more severe duty. Normally for a weed whip its 25:1. They usually say on the gas cap but if not 25:1 is a good ratio that never fails (have done commercial landscaping for years) I use this ratio if I don't have a guide from the manufactor of the weed whip..

I have a Ryobi 725R weed trimmer. It starts and will run on 1/2 choke only. After about 5 minutes it shuts down, like it's out of gas but all fuel lines are full. Help??

Your carburetor is dirty. Disassemble and spray with carb. cleaner. Make sure the small screen is free of debris as well. Use a Den tek Brush, (http://www.dentek.com/shop.php?target=products&product_id=7), to clean the small portals in carb.
If you need further assistance, just let me know.

You need to rebuild the carburetor. You will need to go to an outdoor power & equipment store of some kind to get a carburetor kit for your specific trimmer. It will come with various gaskets, (some of which you won't use), a needle valve, and a small screen that goes in the carb. Replace all old parts with new. New primer bulb is sold seperately. When you have the carb. apart, you will also need to clean the small ports with a Den Tek Brush (used for cleaning teeth). Use carb. cleaner when cleaning.

Ryobi weed trimmer

check the fuek lines for hole and leaks, check the fuel filter and clean if necessary. remove the carbuerator and inspect the gasket; it should be soft and flexible, if it seems hard or brittle replace it. clean the carb with carb cleaner sray (available at any local auto parts store) and compressed air. make sure you get inside the small fuel rail holes. also check the primer bulb for pin holes and proper seating/seal. i
