Intake/drain light blinking on Miele G841 dishwasher
Dishwasher won't cycle once this light starts blinking. Initial pump cycle puts water out to garbage disposal at a good flow rate. From what 've seen on this seb site, it sounds like there is another hidden filter to clean out. I don't have an instruction manual for this appliance as it was here when we moved in. Does anybody have a manual that would walk through the steps required to clean it.
Or any other suggestions?
Thanks.
The intake drain light goes on and the cycle will not start. I have cleaned out the pump and did everything that the service technician suggested. The intake drain light goes on and the cycle will not start. I have cleaned out the pump and did everything that the service technician suggested.

Anytime a cycle is interrupted and a new cycle is selected, the dishwasher will start by draining water first. This is so any water that was accidentally spilled while loading the dishwasher is drained or in your case, water that was left over from the last cycle. When draining problems occur, the dishwasher will drain some water but not all. The timer only allows about 60 seconds for water to discharge. It will not accommodate for a clog.
The most common reason why a dishwasher wont completely drain water is a clog at the end of the discharge hose where the disposal and hose meet. If this should happen, clear the clog and replace entire hose. A clog can happen inside the dishwasher as well.
its obvious the drain pumps blocked, rempty machine, remove drain plug, wire mesh scoop water in middle, then take off the plastic cover with a steel like wire on it, clear out the **** blocking the pump, assemble then should be ok.
most common faults with dishwashers is a drain fault. Check for any kinked hoses and check the drain spigot under the sink where the drain hose connects into the u bend. Usually this is where food gets trapped due to the spigot not being drilled out large enough. This then causes a blockage. Also check the non return valve under the filter and make sure the drain pump can turn freely. Hope this helps.
If you suspect the dish washer, try discharging the drain in a bucket. After the drain cycle check the wash tub. If water is still left, you have to clean the drain filter attached to the bottom. Refer user guide.
The final drain end of the dish washer where you discharge, the fixing junction has to be cleaned, incase it is clogged.
I had a similar problem with a different Miele. I found that under the door, there is a removable trim panel (may not be one on yours). Under the trim panel was an acoustically sealed metal plate held by a couple of screws. i switched off and disconnected the electrity, then removed the plate. The bottom tray was filled with a big puddle. I cleaned that up and put the machine back together and it ran fine. Accordingly, I'm getting some replacement shaft seals for the thing as it looks like its worth fixing. Good luck with yours. rupertvdP
I had a problem where my G842Plus dishwasher would run through the prewash and then the intake/drain light would start blinking and it wouldn't work. There would be water in the bottom of the dishwasher. After cleaning out various items to no avail, we called Miele technical support and they told us to reset the codes and then keep trying it over and over until it worked. Here is how we reset the codes:
Turn dial to stop/off
Turn dial to Normal Plus
Press Start
Press power
Then press the start button for one second and let go
In the user manual there's a section on how to clean the non-return valve. It's the plastic piece under the wire below the triple filter. Why did you pull out the machine? Did you kink the drain hose? If you don't find a clogged valve, spin the impeller wheel several times. It's under the valve inside the bottom hole where the valve came out. Now here's the important step- Reset the fault! Power off/on the unit. If the light blinks when you turn it on, Press and hold the start button 4 seconds with the door open. Find the combination of off/on buttons to press to reset the machine in the user manual. (Note: If the machine runs continuously as soon as you pressed on the power button, then you have water under the unit in the safety pan. Call Miele for help.) Now select the normal wash cycle close the door and start it. The drain motor always runs first. This verifies to the brain how much water is inside the machine when it starts filling. The drain pump runs for half a minute. If you hear it running with no drain check the drain hose especially if it's connected to a disposal. Clean the disposal.. If it's not running at all the light will go on again before filling, call Miele. If the machine fill up with fresh water, the drain works. Watch and listen when the light comes on. Is it filling or did it start circulating? Open the door, are the baskets are dripping wet? Then it filled and circulated. If the light comes on several miutes later then call Miele.
Typically the machine only uses 5-6 quarts of water, If you're floor is getting 1 or 2 quarts check for a loosly connected intake or drain hose. I've never seen any overflow drain on a Miele. It only fills the bottom of the tub. The machine uses a logic program that continuously checks the level of fill and drain by water pressure weight so it always runs with proper amount, even if your intake pressure is weak. Now, If you add too much soap then the bubbles can carry a few ounces over a worn door seal. If the seal is damaged then more spray arm water can run down the front of the machine into the float pan. But after it gets less than a pint of water the drain float will start thr drain pump and shut-off the machine controls and alert you. It won't let you run the machine until the water ( and the problem) is gone. Call Miele for help.
There is water collected in the inner tray of your unit. Pull out the Miele and take off the drain hose and unplug the unit. Then tilt the dishwasher back 60* and let it drain out all the water. There will be a couple of cups on the floor, but nothing too big that a couple of towles can't handle. Then reconnect everything and start up the unit. It WILL work! It just happened to me and my Miele incognito is now working like a champ again!!
