Try admin as both the username and the password, if this does not work then you need to reset the router by pressing the little button on the back of it.

I have lost the security code and have a new laptop, how do i set it up to work

Hi!

If you don't remeber the wireless security code, maybe you still remeber the user and password to access the web management interface of the router.
Then you have to connect the laptop to the router by using a network cable. Open a browser window, type in the IP adress of your router and check the wireless setup section. There you can find / modify the wifi security code.

If you don't know the router's IP adress, then open on your computer a ms-dos prompt and type the command
ipconfig /all

it will display your current IP adress, subnet mask and GATEWAY. The gateway adress is the router's IP adress that must be typed into the browser.

If you don't remember the user and password for accessing the router's web interface, please refer to the router's user manual in order to reset it to factory default configuration, and then proceed as for the first installation of the router.

Hope it helped,

Bogdan

My router was install by a satelite installer and i do not know the network password. how may i reset the password if i don,t know it.

You will have to perform a factory reset on the router.
Looking at page 6 of the user manual for this device, I see there is a RESET button on the back.
Use the tip of a ballpoint pen to press and hold the RESET button on the back for about 15 to 20 seconds. This will set your router back to factory defaults.
After you've done this, start the procedure on page 10 of the user manual to configure the router using your web browser.
Be sure to set-up WPA/WPA2 security on your router as described starting at page 31. If at all possible, do not use WEP security. WEP security has been cracked and can easily be cracked.

How to set up a password on ASUS RT-G32 wireless router so others cannot access my internet services.

Open a browser. Type in the router IP 192.168.1.1. Login to the router using your user id and password. If you have never set up a user id or password, then use the factory default ones to access. Once into the router settings, change the admin password to avoid anyone later accessing the router and changing your settings. Once you save the admin password change, you will be kicked out and must login again with the new password. Once in, go to wireless settings. Here you will able to set a wireless password (security key) for your wireless LAN. Once you save and exit, you will need to go to all your wireless devices and modify them with the security key in order for them to access the network. Once the key is in the router, your network is secure from outsiders getting in without knowing the key.

1. Click on start the go to run and try cmd and click on ok.
