Replace your ignitor even if it is glow there is current that need to pass in the ignitor wire and if it is not getting to that current it will not kick on the gas valve , even if it is glowing.
if it is more then 4 years it is that :)

I see the ignitor element getting red but it will not light-off. I do not smell any gas, so I'm guessing it is not even coming out of the burner valve?? Would appreciate any help I can get. ...

Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya
If the glow coil does glow a very bright yellow white color, that solenoid is working. If the glow coil fails to light, replace that part only. <Use caution-glow coils are not cheap and break easily.>

If the coil glows but you do not hear the second click, which opens the second gas valve to allow the gas to exit to the burner, you will need to remove the gas valve assembly and replace both solenoids.

The solenoids are located on the top of the gas valve and are black plastic coated spool looking items. They are held in place by a retaining plate.

Carefully, remove and replace them with the new ones. <They only fit on the steel rod one way.> Replace the gas valve assembly, attach the quick disconnect wire clips and soap test the gasline nut you unconnected.

If the soap test proves there isn't any gas leaks, fire up the dryer and your done.

Gas oven doesnt work

Hello there:
Gas oven won't work, Ignitor is glowing Everything in the circuit must have continuity for the oven to fire up. What if the ignitor glows but the oven will still not come on? If the ignitor is glowing that would mean you have a circuit. Solution: Replace the ignitor, even if it comes on. Why? Because 99% of the time the ignitor is weak. When it is working fine it should be so bright you cannot look at it for long. If it is a mellow orange color it is bad, replace it. The only way the gas oven valve would be bad is if it is open and has no continuity. That goes for the control as well. Check out this simple diagram of how a basic gas range operates. glowbar.jpg oven ignitor An ignitor must draw at least 3.5 amps or that safety valve will not open up and release the gas: gas-ignitor-circuit.anim.5. Oven will not fire up fgf354bgwc

Hi, The ignitor could still be bad even if it glows. It is a very common problem on the gas reanges. The ignitor is getting so weak it will not open the gas valve.
I hope this helps you understand what is happening. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks

Kenmore oven 362.75275690 won't fire...has new ignitor

if you get 120 volts to the ignitor, then the ignitor will glow ,if not you have a bad ignitor. the valve should have continuity through the the 2 connections.. its poosible to have 110v to ground at ignitor, the only way you get 110v you need to check power across the 2 wires to the ignitor( not to ground), and this will not happen with a bad safety vavle

Kenmore elite gas dryer

Does the ignition glow when you start the dryer? if so you have power to gas valve and ignition system. if not you may have an open thermostat or thermalfuse.

If the ignitor just sits there and glows all day, you have other problems, It could be a gas valve, or ignitor sensor.

Lighting pilot of GE gas stove

According to the model number you supplied it looks like your oven use a glow bar ignitor not a pilot light. In that case there is no place to hold a fire. what happens with these when you turn the oven on 120 volts goes to the ignitor causing it to heat up ,the amp draw across the ignitor causes the gas safety valve to open, and then lights the gas. So if you turn your oven on you should see a bright red glow if not probably the the ignitor, to check it you would have to verify you actually have power going to it. If the ignitor glows but the gas valve does not open you will still need to replace the ignitor has to pull about 3.2 amps across ignitor to open safety valve. Your broil burner works the same way. And most of the ovens the floor of the oven comes out to allow easier acess to the ignitor. also if you have to change the ignitor put just a dab of dish detergent on the screws to help from stripping them
