I have a power problem with my JBL Encounter system. Since I played it very successfully on Saturday night with some marvellous music, it is no longer working. I have check the fuse in the plug and replaced it with no effect. The small green power light does not come on even pressing the on/off switch repeatedly, and there's no sound at all. What do I do please? best Lew Llewellyn

The same happened to me. The 5amp fuse soldered to the small circuit board in the power supply had blown. When replaced, I got my 18v AC output again, however when I plugged it back in to the speakers, the fuse blew again! Possibly the output amp has failed as the left and right speaker output pins are shorted.

Hello
its power supply section has failed. you have to look into it for further trouble. Replacing fuse or line chord won't give you any result. you have to check wit whether the transformer faulure has occured or not. If it is fitted with a mains transformer, it will have a thermal fuse in it imbeded in between its primary and secondary windings placed inside the transformer and can be accessable if it is taken out. It is meant for to block the transformer woring, if it does overheats due to long run at high volume. Check from this and proceed. you must have a sound knoledge in electroncis and have a concept of soldering to do this work. OK.

JBL Encounter Speakers Suddenly Lost Volume While Listening to Music.

Did you check the continuity of the line? If the end line (Jack) is pulled out several times over, the stress on the wires causes some wires to fray or breakaway. A pattern of increased resistance results and thus lower volume to the speakers. You may need to cut the end, replace the jacks.

Hi, I bought a new JBL SCS 140 system with amp HK

Fuses blow when something is shorted. In this case it will be a semi-conductor of some kind. If the device uses IC for the main amplification then you are right to be worried!

The 158 amp is totally unsuitable for the JBL.
This is the specification of the JBL:
  • Recommended Amplifier Power 10 Watt
  • they are also 4 Ohm speakers.
  • 158 is: Output Impedance / Channel
    8 Ohm.

My JBL plays but it cuts the play back frequently like it plays and stops, plays and stops, plays and stops so on .Whats the problem. Please help

Until this is fixed, I would not use it or you may blow up a speaker... Make sure you check that you are using BALANCED audio interconnect cables, either XLR or TRS balanced cables AND that ALL interconnected equipment is poowered by the SAME receptacle... yes you have to run extension cords, but the pro's do it to avoid ground bounce damage to their equipment. Use ONLY three wire power cords.

you shouldnt have to worry about a speaker jack for it. it should work anywhere and a simple usa to uk power adapter will work for you it just changes the plug type and up or downs the voltage (i cant recall if uk is higher or lower then the u.s)
