Check the damper in the top back of the fresh food section. make sure that it is open and air is coming through it.
SOURCE: Ice build up in freezer
Defrost system failure.
Defrost timer, heater, therma disk, any one could be bad.
You could manually defrost and this would get the Ref back to working for a couple of days before it iced up again. Remember there is a lot of ice build up on the cooling coils in the freezer that you can't see so, a little extra time with a hair dryer is needed to do a complete manual defrost.

yes the evap fan in the frezer should be running when the compressor is running[it may not for a minute or so as it starts up.Amana's are good for the connectors at the evap fan motor comming apart.the connectors are white and will look like its together but when you pull it will come apart.i would always cut the connector out and use a wire nut so wont happen again.if any other questions please email thru FixYa and i will be glad to help. God bless ,tom

version of adaptive defrost : Press
refrigerator light switch five times in six seconds to initiate defrost cycle.
Pressing five more times within six seconds will cancel defrost and go straight
into the run mode. Similar operation on both bottom mount and SxS refrigerators.
After the defrost terminator/thermostat opens, six minutes of dwell time occurs
before the compressor and condenser fan motor will operate. After defrost
terminator/thermostat open, 10 minutes of dwell time occurs before the
evaporator fan motor will operate.
SOURCE: amana bottom freezer problem
It sounds like the condenser coil might be freezing up. This happened to me on my bottom freezer. The cooling part of your fridge is only in the back of the freezer compartment. The cold air from the freezer blows up through a vent in the back to the fridge and comes out at the top. If the coils do not defrost (which is what happened with mine) the air flow is blocked by the ice and can't get to the fridge compartment. Your freezer will still be cold but your fridge won't. If you pull the plug on it and time things right you can defrost the coils but this will only postpone the problem. Both will work for awhile again until the coils ice up again. You can also pull out the freezer drawere and try to defrost the coil with a blow dryer. You have to disconnect the icemaker and pull out the back panel behind the freezer to get to it though.
