LG tromm front loader OE

The error code OE is falure to drain we found that if we blast a jet of air from our compressor up the drain hose durring the last drain cycle. The OE goes away and the washer drains fine for a while. WE have been doing this for 6 months about every two weeks. Please help us perminantly fix this issue. Thanks John

my LG tromm was leaking from the vent in the back. I blew air up the drain hose and it was draining for about 15 minutes then gave the code OE.

I am having this problem also. I drain the washer and clean out the filter about once every 2 weeks (because I have 3 dogs and I want to keep the dog hair out of it) and I got the error message this weekend, drained it, cleaned the filter, put it back, etc. and when it got to the next drain cycle it still gave me OE. It did this several times last night until it got so late that I decided to pick it up again today. It says this error message can also be a clogged or bent drain hose, but the drain hose is draining and the part that comes outside the washer isn't bent. Can anyone help?

All of the ways to solve this problem are right on--take the filter out (in front on the bottom left when facing the machine). Before you do, take time to drain out the water with the hose below. Once drained open the filter and clean out. Try on speed wash with no spin. Nine minutes in you will know if the drain works. If not, turn on side and remove the washer pump. To do this, remove the hoses first starting with clamps. Then remove the three screws in front where the filter is. It easily comes out. The top pump is the drain pump. First mark the wires--blue is positive and black is negative. Remove the pump and clean out.The pump comes out of the casing. Try removing this and cleaning. If you have a power source, test the pump. If works, put back and start in fast cycle with no spin. If not, then you have to replace the drain pump. You will not find anyone in town the has the pump unless you live in New York or Dallas Texas. To get the pump at a reasonable price and expedited call and order through Sears at 18004881222. These guys are good and well get it to you as promised. The entire job once recieved the pump took about 30 minutes. Also, saved about $100 in labor. Good luck and hope this helps...

oh my gosh this problem drove us crazy last night - looking forward to taking your directions home and trying this, tonight. Thank you so much! (fingers crossed)

A few things are unclear. Do you mean to turn the washing machine on it's side?

  • Anonymous Dec 23, 2012

    These directions are not clear.

At one point you talk about a "washer pump" and then a drain pump. Are these two different things?

Having the same problem. There is no way I can turn the machine on its side as it is stacked with dryer on top and under the stairs of our 100+ year old house. Is this something we should source out for repair?

This may be obvious but have you cleaned the filter that precedes the pump? Open the small access panel on the bottom left ( front of the washer) and twist out the filter trap.. clean all debris.. and the little bit of water that trickles out onto your floor.. Hope that helps...

I just took the whole drain pump out and if you have a phillips screwdriver and some patience the pump is very easy to remove. Once I had the pump out I took off both the tops off each pump to view the impeller and cleaned them up. This all started with the EO error that would not clear. Once I cleaned everything up, blew out all the drain hoses with air and water and reassembled my washer was back up and running. The pumps still make quite a bit of noise so I will be getting a new one but getting to the pump was not bad at all and you can test you washer with ease outside if you so choose by hooking it up to your garden hose and just use the cold setting.

My LG Tromm front loader has an OE error message and isn't spinning. First received the message during a full load of laundry. Had to drain the water from the hose at the bottom and finally got it unlocked...

OE is normally down to blocked drain pipes, mcalpine (connection under the sink) or a blocked front filter. empty the machine and unscrew the filter behind the flap at the bottom right hand side, check for any obstructions, icoins, hair grips etc are normally blocking here

I have the LG Tromm 27'' Front Loader model WM2277HW

The LG error code OE simply means "the pump is blocked". Presumably the water isn't being emptied properly. As with all error codes it is possible that there is a cause other than the exact description in the error code explanation but basically this error means as far as the washing machine is concerned it thinks the water isn't pumping out. A pump, or filter blockage is the most common cause but it could be caused by other faults such as a faulty pump, or even a blockage in the drain hose or somewhere else in the system etc.

LG themselves have some information on this error code..

MY LG WASHER WONT DRAIN, IT SAYS THE ERROR MESSAGE

OE is a drain error - Check there isn't a kink in your drain hose, ensure the filter is clean, the drain hose can become clogged with sludge, sometimes a hot wash with 1/2 a cup of vinegar will remove this sludge
