This was such a lifesaver! I thought I was going to have to buy a new printer. I found a bead inside of mine and now it is working fine. Thank you so much for the posting!

Thanks so much for the suggestion to fix the paper not feeding on the MX340. When I turned it over a sliver of glass fell out where a glass broke and a piece ended up inside the printer. It is working perfectly now.

I thought you were all nuts until I too turned my printer upside down, shaking it like a rag doll. To my shock and awe, a gift card fell from it's jaws! Thank you! You saved me money and misery!

I had the same problem with my MX340. I called canon and it turns out that something have falling in the paper tray. tilt it to the back and stick your finger in there and try to move the rollers or shake and tap it a little till it falls out. I had a little nail in there. it's working find now.

I had the same issue and I couldnt see any jams any where. If moving the paper pick up wheels with your fingers dosent work as suggested above, Turn Off the Power, open up both lids as you would when you are changing the ink. Move the ink wells over to the left of the printer as you are looking at it. There is a white toothed cog on the far right of the carrige, directly below where the ink wells rest in the off position. Wind this with your fingers forwards and it will push out any small bits of paper trapped underneth that you cant see from the back. Mine was a small triangle of paper about 2cm x 1cm that was causing the error. Once removed all was good. Hope this helps, it is very frustrating I no!.

I followed the advice above of winding the toothed cog. What finally worked for me was to cut a 4x11 piece of card stock and slip it in to the location where the rollers will catch it. This then revealed a wad of paper the I never say otherwise.
Once I removed that wad of paper about the size of a spit ball, all was well.

That worked for me too. Believe it or not, in my case it was a packet of ketchup - the ones you get from togo places!! Luckly it didn't burst... Just pulled it out and ran a clean up cycle to remove smudges during the print... And the printer was back to normal.

There may be any piece or obstacles in the left side of paper path. Try to use thick paper, like 250 GSM and push the paper in to the printer with your hand when printer pickup the paper.

For us it was a small screw. Could not get it from the back, had to poke it from the front to the back with a BIC pen tip and then it fell out with the printer tilted back.

Thank you all for helping!

Thanks for the suggestion to turn the printer over to see if anything had fallen inside. Sure enough a sliver of glass fell out from when a glass broke and a piece landed in my MX340. It is working just fine now. Thanks for saving me from having to bring it to the service center!

This worked for me too except mine has crumbs from a cake that was set on the computer. Turned it upside down, a few shakes & the 2 crumbs fell out that was hindering my printer.

Paper jam I've cleaned sprayed, etc must be something I can't see w/o going deeper. How do I remove cover to get to paper rollers in MX340

Removing the covers is not the answer. Most jams on rear feed printers/faxes are due to some object falling in the sheet feeder. When you pull the paper back out (Very slowly) of the sheet feeder after it has jammed , you will see a nick in the paper. This is because the paper is hitting something and cant get past it. put the paper back in the sheet feeder and the nick will indicate where the object is. Find a large paper clip and unwind it and bend the top of it to 90 degrees. use this to hook the object out and then tip the printer upside down and watch it fall out. Good luck

My printer keeps saying that there is a paper jam but I cannot find one

This error message is displayed by the printer when paper is jammed in one or more locations. In such a case, users are recommended to remove the jammed paper from the specified location. The entire paper path must be checked for any pieces of paper. To stop the message, open and close the top most cover of the printer. Lastly, verify the flags and the sensors. If the problem persists, the cause of the error message could be a broken sensor or sensor lever.

My printer says that there is a paper jam but there is no paper in it.

Check the pick up rollers, this is a very common issue. If it mispicks and leaves the paper in the tray, it will code a jam. Damp cloth and clean the pick up rollers inside the tray.

My Canon MX340 printer says there is a paper jam .... there is no paper jam. I've opened the cover, the scan cover and checked in the back. There is no paper jam. i've tried resetting the printer by...

I had the same problem...after trying everything suggested on the forum. I had enough and decided to disassemble the printer. I removed the CAD and disconnected the wires and it solved the problem. No more paper jam error code on the screen. This probably includes that the CAD won't work anymore but I never used this anyway. So now I can print and scan like I used to.

Canon pixma mx340 4-in-1 wireless printer thinks it's jammed when it's not. say "error 6000". Assistance is greatly appreciated. thank you

error 6000 is a paper jam, which means there is something in the flag that senses whether or not there is paper in the path. Look very carefully in the area just before the paper comes out before the printing area. You will likely find a small piece of paper stuck, or a small object. Often a small inspection mirror helps.

Paper Jam!

Clean your pickup rollers with a damp terrycloth towel. What happens is the pickup rollers get lint and dust on them and then don't pick up the paper as well. Cleaning should resolve your issue.
