I have the Kenmore Elite Trio 795.75546401. There is a sheet of ice under the freezer draw. I cleaned it out and it came back. Have since shut off the ice maker and stopped using the water dispenser. I have not changed the water filter for a year and a half. Could that be the problem?

It is definitely the water filter. With the hardness of the water from our county I have to change our filter every 6 months. After replacing the filter be sure that it is seated well. It can leak if it is not fully engaged. Run water through the dispenser until the air is out.

The bottom of the freezer keeps getting a layer of ice. I take the ice out about once a week. Now there is so much ice that it is leaking water on to the floor before it freezes. We have a Kenmore elite...

The evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the inside of the freezer at the bottom of the rear cover.

Kenmore Elite trio Error 15

This is an error code for the icemaker fan motor.
If the control does not see a signal coming back from the fan motor you will get this error code.
Please see the image below from the service manual that explains the ER IF error code.

http://media.fotki.com/1_p,wkbwtkdqbqkgrkkxgtqsskgwtqkq,vi/ktfgsrbbdxktrrwffdr/1/1303472/5961857/image18067img-or.jpg

The ER IF code indicates a failure of the icing fan.

You may notice slower ice production but the other fans should be okay.

You can select the ultra ice option and see if the fan toggles on.

The fan or the control is bad.

Just bought a kenmore elite bottom freezer trio model and display panel shows o ff. Expect this means whole unit is off but manual does not say how to turn ON in the setting the controls section of manual....

I just purchased a similar model and had the same frustration. Finally called the store and it was in DEMO mode. Open the freezer draw and hold down the Ultra Ice & Refrigerator Temp buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds. That worked for me and hope it will do the trick for you.

Water leaking into freezer

It may be the defrost thermostat. This thermostat turns on a heater in the freezer a couple of times a day and melts the ice in the freezer which should go into a tube that leads to a pan underneath the refrigerator, where it sits and evaporates from the heat of the compressor. It could also be the timer which tells the refrigeator to turn off a couple of times a day and tells the defrost thermostat to turn on.
