We have just bought an ASUS RT-N15 router for a home network. Our previous ASUS wireless router was set up easily via plug & play. None of us are IT 'techies' here, though we manage to solve most problems with assistance. We need to set up the RT-N15 router, as 2 of us are about to start uni via distance ed next week.
The problems are: Sometimes we can get on to the internet using the RT-N15 router, then it will slow right down & cut us off. We have been getting the following error message: "You have set the wrong dynamic or static address for your RT-N15" How & where do you reset this?
The ASUS RT-N15 page we are directed from the error message has fields for WAN IP setting, WAN DNS setting, Account setting, Special requirement from ISP. We cannot see where to change this setting on this page. Any help appreciated.
Regards Jem

If you have set up the router's wifi network before, you probably put in a key code. You can change the code by logging into the router with a wired connection. (With a browser go to 192.168.1.1 and use the default user and password (if you haven't changed any of these). It's in the manual: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/wireless/RT-N66U_B1/E7018_RT_N66U_B1_Manual.zip for the English copy. Extract the PDF from the file and see page 17. Other versions of the manual are available here: http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTN66U/HelpDesk_Manual/ . ) If you try to use a computer that is already accessing the router via the wireless network, you'll lose the connection when you apply the key code change.
If you have changed the administrative user name and password, you may need to reset the router to factory settings. Press the recessed Reset button with a ball point pen or straightened paperclip. Hold the button down for about 5 minutes.
There wasn't a key code built into the unit for the wi-fi network. I hope this helps.
If your trying to get on the internet with a wireless connection.and running WINDOWS, .and the wireless router is all set up and configured to broadcast the signal (not hidden) ....first we have to determine if the problem is at the router or at the laptop AND at what point its getting stuck ... so first try this
try resetting the router (disconnect the power to it for a few minutes) next --be sure the wifi switch is enabled on the netbook---next---go to CONTROL PANEL>NETWORK CONNECTIONS--right click oin your wifi card and choose properties--highlight INTERNET PROTOCOL and choose properties and be sure "OPTAIN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY" is checked--Does the laptop "SEE" the router? You will need your SSID to logon to the router(internet)

stupid question : is Wifi turned on ? Go to your administration environment of your router ( typically : http://192.168.1.1 ) and check the config of the wireless settings
1) Verify if Wi-Fi WLAN interface of your notebook is OK. 1a) Check whether HW switch is ON and the wireless system service is running. 1b) Switch on the WLAN Access Point (router) SSID broadcasting. 1c) Scan WLAN networks by the notebook. Can you see your home WLAN? If not, there is HW or SW problem in your wireless adapter probably. If WLAN is visible, continue by next steps.
2) Remove all WLAN security on both sides (AP and notebook): Authentication = none/open, encrytption = none. 3) Activate DHCP server in the router and set the dynamic IP assigning on WLAN notebook interface. 4) Select your home WLAN SSID in the list and try to connect. 5) Wait and check status. Is WLAN connected? Does obtain the notebook an IP address? 6) In success case set the WLAN security.
Thanks Dinesh, we'll do that. Cheers Jem
