Freezer too cold turned control in fridge down to 1 waited a day cant lower freezer temprature

I would guess it's the fan in the freezer compartment that's bad.

you need to turn down the settings of a fridge --the lower the number on the control knob the colder the fridge
it is the freezer that the system is reversed where the lower the number the warmer the freezer

These tempratures are pretty cold should be around 0 deg. but it sounds like you might have a bad defrost timer or defrost thermostat the frost should not come back if defrost system is working

What happens is the defrost is controlled electronically from a circuit board, when this goes bad, the freezer quits defrosting, and freezes the fans that circulate air through the fridge side of things.

To check this, unplug the entire fridge, leave the freezer open, wait for it to defrost a bit, if this causes the fridge to start cooling again when you plug it back in, then its the defrost. You should also see ice crystals on the back of the freezer just under the icemaker.

#1 is warmest going colder as you go upto #7.fridges should be set at +3C,adjusting the control for summer and winter.you could do the lettuce test,if it goes soggy/black,its too cold.

I suggest turn it to lower temperature, so that water won't drip down. You can get rid of the hardness by keeping those things out of the unit for about half an hour before using, so that it may lose some coldness and become soft.

if the compressor wsnt running it wouldnt get cold the real question is is there ice in the freezer on the back wall

Hi, you have a common problem with your control boards; there is a cheap fix if you can use a soldering iron or you can have your modules repaired.

All the cooling is in the freezer and the control in the fridge side only controls a damper to let in cold air as needed. To do what you want you have to replace the thermostat to a lower temp rated unit
