The bowl won't stay lifted. The white plastic piece on the bowl lifter is broken it looks like. Would that cause my problem and can I buy a replacement part and what would the # be. I have a Pro 600 model KP2671XGN. Thank you in advance

check inside the machine housing the part where the handle is moving but the rest of assembly is not it could be a pin has dropped out. use something like a nail etc to block this part so that the handle turns the assembly. until you can get a replacement.

if this is not the case then a part is broken and needs replacing.

also to reduce wear on this lifter ensure the bowl holding arms sliding rails are kept clean and lubricated. if they get fouled up with flour etc this over time, plus the weight of the bowl can cause excessive strain on the lifter assembly.

I am having the same problem. I just noticed the piece of a part in the bottom of the machine. The hole where the bowl fits into is supposed to have a stop feature. Mine broke off and is in the hole beneath the lift arm. If you raise the bowl lift without a bowl in it, you will see a hole with screen mesh. That is where I found the broken parts. Now I have to find out where to get it fixed.

Bowl lift plastic gizmo on the shaft is breaking, fit a new one.

I'd be looking at making sure the beater is not banging on the bowl and that the head hinge isn't loose. The bowl is secure on the base with this system that has been in use for decades so you are looking for a fault not a re-design of the system. The friction of the mix in the bowl should logically tend to tighten the bowl, not undo it. I have seen a malformed bowl once where the lugs weren't big enough and I suspect that it's possible for there to have been the odd malformed bottom plate with not big enough lugs.

If the base is not holding the bowl properly then only a replacement base plate or another bowl is going to fix it. The base plate is held onto the pedestal with 3 Philips head screws.

You have not supplied a model number and the bowl lift models are not all the same. A couple of items you could check, make sure that the bowl retaining clip that engages with the dimple on the pedestal side of the bowl is not broken. Make sure any bolts/screws holding the pedestal to the base or the pedestal to the motor are tight. Even if you supply a model number I can't think of anything else to look at unless the handle is not lifting the bowl up tight enough. I think on some models the arm holds the carrier up with some pressure which would help stop the wobbles.

you most likely stripped the plastic gear (Worm gear???).  This gear is designed to fail to prevent the motor from burning out under EXTREME loads (i.e. when a metal piece falls into the bowl). The plastic gear is much cheaper than a new motor.  Look around on this site to see how to get at/repair the gear.  I've found many parts on eBay.com and also PartSelect.com.
