SOURCE: tv code
I have an Acer 3720A and Shaw's Atlas PVR remote. I used the "scan feature" to find that code "0704" worked for me (at least for power and volume - which are all I need).
Whether or not this works for you depends on the specific Acer TV you have and possibly the model of "shaw" remote. Many Shaw remotes actually come from Universal Electronics (www.urcsupport.com) and they do not have Acer TV's in their DB. Acer's own site indicates they cannot provide a specific code (at least for my model of TV) and to try the remote's scan feature - which is how I ended up with my solution.
Hope this helps.

sparrow00, your fix worked for me, and I think I know why. The 1/8" remote input jack on the back of the TV has electrical contacts inside that are probably there to sense the presence of a plug-in remote. When they detect the insertion of this plug they disable the front panel IR (infrared) receiver and the TV only responds to this plugged-in remote and the buttons on the TV itself. After some period of time these contacts get corroded and the circuit is no longer completed between them. The TV now thinks an external remote is plugged in, and it ignores its own front panel IR receiver.
When you plug a 1/8" plug into this remote socket on the back of the TV it wipes away the corrosion. When you remove the plug the internal contacts conduct properly again and the TV responds to its front panel IR receiver. For best results you should plug a 1/8" headphone plug into this remote jack and twist it a few times, then pull it out and repeat several times. Repeat every frew months or whenever the TV acts up.
Thanks for your solution!

If the code exists (and it's very likely) you can find the code and programming instructions in the remote's user manual. Usually the user manual for electronics is a complete joke...but not this time!
The manual includes what appears to be EVERY known code, listed by brand name. The only listing under DVD Player that mentioned "Curtis" was code 1087
If that doesn't work, I'd recommend the programming directions for scrolling through every possible IR code the remote is capable of...just in case.
The link for the manual can be found here:

Let us know if this helps (or not)! :)
