Where do I complain about background noise and music on TV. I have no hearing problems at all, but the unnecessary background (music) noise is dreadful it gives me a headache and it is louder than the presenter, I have to turn off the programmes. I rarely watch TV and the programmes I choose to watch I am unable to watch. For example: 7.00pm on BBC Four Sunday 13th February The Story of Science: Power Proof and Passion along with 8.00pm on BBC Four Sunday 13th February Romancing the Stone: The Golden Ages of British Sculpture. I am considering cancelling my TV licence as I am unable to watch the few programmes which interest me.

You will need to adjust the audio on your TV. In this case I would shut down the bass boost and shut down the surround sound. Surround sound is sometimes called expansion sound. These are located on the menu under audio control. You may be satisfied with operating the TV in mono sound. Try this and see if this is better.

Should I be hearing only music and background noise from the surround speakers. I do not hear voices, just music, background noise, applause, etc. thanks,,!

Yes, for most movies the surround speakers are for music and background. Unless the person speaking is supposed to be behind you, the voice will not come from there.

Background noise and music is so loud we can't understand the dialog

If the sound was disconnected, you would hear absolutely nothing at all. There is a problem with the sound signal itself, so connecting external speakers probably would not help at all. Electronic components have failed, which caused the sound problem issue.

The background noise in a movie on Tv is so loud I can hardly hear the conversations. I have tried the audio menu. Normal, Wide, Low ..They all sound the same.

GO again into the customer menu and look for something that says Hall, Surround etc--I have seen this before--usually it is a setting that creates a problem where the background sounds are so loud you cannot hear the people talking......go thru every section of the menu--I be you will find this is your problem.

Let me know what you find--I am here to help people. I do not think you have a circuit problem--only some thing in the menu has been set to the wrong place.

If this has helped you, rate this solution as I do this here for FREE.

User hears faint static while on a call. It's not load enough to make it hard to hear the caller, but a noticable crackling/static noise can be heard in the background. happens on every call.

Cell phones transmit the sound as digital data. The data when converted back to analog to listen too CAN have "digitizing noise" which will sound like static.

WORSENING the problem is if there is noise in the background of the person sending the voice and the worst possiblle is to have MUSIC in the background. These both drive the CODEC (the analog conversion system) crazy and will create what you describe. The CODEC is designed to transmit ONLY voice.

Who do you complain to for action against loud background noise on tv programs? The noise is bad you cannot hear the dialogue. I am at a point of watching as little as possible. Where is the FCC when you...

We love shows like all the Law and Order shows and cannot hear the dialogue because of dreary useless background dirges. It is infuriating. Please stop it

Background sound too loud

Thank you, everyone! I thought maybe I was losing my mind. I can hardly watch a lot of the TV shows anymore due to the inappropriate use of music -- either it's too loud or there's just too darned much of it. Come on, TV producers! You are supposed to get better with time, not worse! Thank goodness I'm not alone.

Emerson dvd player - background sound lauder than dialogue

Greetings surfjax,

If you will allow me to make an assumption, you do not have a 5.1 surround system connected to your DVD player. This is a common experience with users of a standard TV or stereo receiver if a movie is being presented in 5.1.

In a surround sound system the center channel speaker provides almost all the vocal tracks while the side channels will provide music and some background noises. You'll still be able to hear the voices in your side speakers, but it will be muted and over powered by music or sound effects.

Some DVD players allow you to "Downmix" the surround signal to stereo. You might want to look around your sound setup on the DVD player or check your owners manual.

Hope this helps.
