Smell inside washer. Even after wash - Indesit Washing Machines

Despite washers remain with some residual water in the pump and wet components it should no be so critical as you are indicating especially if you cleaned it as you stated. You are not describing the smell but try to isolate the source, like the washer drainage point (odors coming from sewage), behind the washer, and inside or under the washer where the mechanical components are. It wouldn't be surprising to find a dead rat, lizard or pests in there. Sometimes even wet laundry falling behind the appliances stinks strongly. Be safe moving and reaching on difficult places. I have found that the best solution to clearing smells for your style of machine is to fill unit with hot water wash & put in 3/4 to 1 cup of baking soda. You should repeat this 2 times. I am assuming that the underneath & behind machine have been checked and that the smell is from the machine internally & not externally. Good luck! Regards

It sounds like an air vent is either missing or clogged. That gurgling usually indicates some sy phoning action going on which is drawing water out of a gas trap. Hence you are getting sewer smell into the washer.

Don't know if this is the same as your problem, but I had a Kenmore washer, (made by Whirlpool) that did the same thing. It was a high efficiency model without an agitator. I finally found out that this type of washer never drains completely but always has some water left in it. This water is somewhere internal that cannot be seen unless the machine is taken apart. That water goes bad and stinks. Everything smelled like mildew and for some while my husband thought I was was washing clothes and leaving them in until they dried. I ended up having to just buy a new machine and when the stinky washer was taken away, just tilting it caused all this foul water to come out everywhere. have you tryed a boil wash with nothing in the washer to soften and expel any caked powder in the drum?i know this does help

Make shure to do a cleaning cycle. As well, wipe out the inside, the rubber gasket and the door when done washing for the day. We also have found that
leaving the door "Open" for several hours, when finnished, eliminates any future
smells.

Front load washers retain water that you cant see or get to. There are cleaners for washing machines available. I clean mine every month with alot of bleach , try pouring a half gallon of bleach in the soap insert on a normal wash cycle and an extra rinse would not hurt no clothes of course.

Model nums are fine in the store, if it is an oasis or calypso make sure drain hose is not in drain more than 5 inches. If not your pump might be going out or is clogged. A great cleaner developed is called washer magic and it will help the smell with some elbow grease. If not and is a traditional top load check motor and gearcase or even the timer for wear in a old machine.

Try Washer Magic, you can buy it at your local Menards, Ace Hardware or look at line. I have never used it.

I have the same problem with a 3 month old ge front loading washer.after 1 month it started off smelling musty..I thought it was my imagination, now at 3 months old our clothes smell so bad I think we might just have to buy new clothes! everytime I wash a load the clothes smell worse and now you can even smell it just walking into our closet 2 floors up. A new washing washing machine should NOT be doing this! so far leaving the door open in between washes has helped a little but I plan on tipping it back and finding the hidden filter today. Isn't it lovely that they don't mention a filter that needs monthly cleaning or it's location in the manuals?!
