irst to unlock depending on model. There will be a pull tab either under the lower kick panel, behind the filter cover, or under the top panel. Pull this tab to unlock the door. Now you can remove the clothes and water. Refer to the owners manual for the location of your emergency door pull tab.

Door Switch
You will need to remove the door switch to check it. You will perform an ohm reading on the bottom terminals. The reading varies from manufacturers most Frigidaires is around 1500 ohms others like the whirlpool duet is checked at the main control board with the door closed should be around zero ohms. You will need to refer to the tech sheet or service manual for the proper reading.

Main Control Module / CCU
The main control unit is the circuit board located behind the console. If the door switch tests good the main control is usually the problem. Check all connections for a goood tight fit. You will need to refer to the tech sheet or service manual to check this further. The main control is easy to replace.

The F28 error means that the main control board and the motor control board are not communicating with each other.

WHat would need to be checked to fix it is for good tight wiring connections on the wiring harnesses between the motor control and the main control boards,also for worn parts on the motor& that the motor is running....(that the drum turns in both the washa nd spin directions)

ok the f-28 means on of these parts are bad,, motor control unit or microcomputer control unit,,, f-29 is the door lock i would start with the microcomputer control unit,, but i always replace both parts at once saves alot of time waiting

The F28 error code in most Kenmore models is a MCU (Motor Control Unit) failure or a wiring issue. You did not include a model number for your washer. Without a complete model number I am unable to supply you with anything other than generic help.

f-28 was flashing on my washer for the longest time, first i had read that my heating element had gone out which was false, my washer still produced the steam and heat prior to error code f-28 then shutting down.The 2nd thing i read was F-28 meant the locking switch on the door was going bad which again was false, my washer would lock and unlock allowing me to feed more clothes. So i took it upon myself to remove the lower cover clean and was my RINSE filter which at that time I discovered the DRAIN tube was pushed against my wall not allowing enough water to flow out on my washers RINSE & SPIN cycle.

If you have this problem I would recommend following your service guide to trouble shoot the RINSE FILTER & DRAIN PIPE. The washer motor spins so fast that the washer itself need to drain the water out 10X's faster then a regular standard washer!

Hope this helps cause it did for me and saved my wife and I alot of money in repairs!

It may be that the drain pump is not the problem at all. Error Code F-28 on the Kenmore HE2 means that there is a signal error between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU)
