Hi, due to virus/trojan, my acer 1640Z is refusing to start at all, in safety mode or anything. I've tried pressing both F8 or F10 (I know it has worked earlier because I used the function once before), but nothing happens. It just goes to the black screen which says windows couldnt start, do you wish to start in safety mode or in the last functioning settings etc.. But whichever option you take, it just ends up with the same screen after showing a blue one with dumping memory..

Is my acer completely dead or does anyone have any suggestions??

Do restore setting?

use the automatic recovery console. you must have the recovery disc to restore your pc to its original factory setting.

Shut down the computer and then turn it back on , right away start tapping either f10 or or f8, this should send your computer into recovery mode. once there you want to do a destructive re boot of the hard drive, then just follow the command prompts from there ............ good luck

How. Do I take acer touch screen PCs to factory settings

Hi. Most computers have a hidden partition on the hard drive that contains all the factory default settings and system software that originally came with the PC, including the operating system (like Windows 7/8,etc.). There is a simple method to restore your computer to factory default settings using this restore partition. Please be sure to backup any data or files that you want to save on a USB flash drive or backup media first.

I presume that your computer is an Acer Aspire One model touch-screen PC. For this model of computer, in Windows, go to "Start," then "All Programs," then "Acer Empowering Technology."

Then, you want to click on "Acer eRecovery Management."Then, click on "Restore," then lastly, "Restore System To Factory Default." Your computer will then reboot/restart, and launch the Recovery Utility.

When prompted, click "Yes," then "Yes" again to restore/revert your Acer computer to its original factory default state. Please do note that if you deleted the recovery partition from your hard drive by formatting it, you won't be able to use this recovery option. If that is the case, you should be able to use the original system DVD's that came with your computer to restore it to its original factory defaults.

I do hope that I have helped you. Please feel free to ask further questions if you still have need. Thank you.

Forgot password for aspire m1600

Hello here is the homepage:

http://support.acer.com/product/default.aspx?modelId=341

Open the case of the pc and reset the bios to factory settings by removeing the cmos battery on the mainboard for like 10 min.

This will clear the password so you can enter the pc on the normal way.

You just have to set up the clock and the boot settings for the harddrive when the job is done.

Here is some video from youtube that shows how:

Download also the manual and take antistatic precautions.

How can I reset an Acer Aspire M3600 to factory defaults without the recovery disk

Maybe going to a restore point which should be automatically stored in your computer....you may lose recent info. Just search your computer...like in the "Control Panel"..."computer"...or similiar icons on desktop and it will lead you to a restore facturpoint or a way to set manufacture default settings

The problem isn't with your monitor, it's wth your video card, motherboard, CPU or power supply. Do you get the single beep at startup?

I'm trying to fix an acer aspire m1610 desktop

if it is a dekstop unplug the power, open the computer case and remove the small battery that is on the motherboard.
after one minute, put it back and start your pc.
after this, the default settings (manufacturers default) will be entered for the bios and you will be able to acces the bios without password
