Not sure why your removing the battery? If you are shuting down the machine. Close all running programs before shuting down otherwise the machine has to close each program in turn before thr machine can shut down all together. Depending on how the settings are for the power button. The shut down process can be forced by holding down the power button until the machine has shut down. Black screen instead of white. DVD/VCR Combo was working fine then one day machine started
shutting down after a few seconds of operation. It happens with both, a
VCR and a DVD. I can watch 6 secs. of a movie at a time.
The issue seems to be with the power settings of your machine. Go to control panel and then go to power options. There you can change the and settings fro auto shut down of your machine.
