I need to disable my Lenovo G550 touchpad, is there a solution?

I had this same problem. This is how I solved it:
1. Install the touch-pad driver from Lenovo's website, but remember which folder it installed into
2. Go into the device manager, it's located in the control panel, and click on mice and other pointing devices, then on the mouse device
3. In the mouse device window, go to drivers, then update driver, then say locate manually, then find the folder you installed the drivers to
4. Restart and try the scroll wheel

You really can't do much with settings for a touchpad.
