I had my laptop plugged in, I was running a virus scan; when I checked on computer, screen was black (off?), and the yellow/orange power button on bottom edge of laptop was slowly blinking. When I pressed the power button, the yellow/orange battery light would blink real fast a few times. Laptop still will not turn on...can you help?

Black screen on acer aspire 5560 series will not load

Fix 1: Power reset your laptop
Power resetting does a trick to fix the Acer black screen issue and it works for many people. Here's how to do it:
1.Turn off your laptop.
2.Remove the AC adapter cable, hard drives, the battery and any other attached peripheral devices.
3.Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds and release. Your laptop will boot up and turn off during this time period.
4.Put your battery back in and plug the charger. Then don't plug anything else.
5.Press the Power button as normal to turn on your laptop.
Your laptop should start normally now.
If this method works for you, you should update your device drivers to the latest version to prevent similar problems from happening again.
If the laptop screen is black, don't worry. There are other solutions.
Fix 2: Try F2, F9, and F10 key
If you find yous Acer laptop screen is black, you can try this:
1.Ensure to turn off your laptop, and unplug any external devices.
2.Press the Power button to turn on your laptop.
3.When you see the Acer logo or splash screen appears, press F2, F9, F10, and Enter key on your keyboard.
4.Select Exit > Yes, and press Enter.
Your laptop will start and the black screen issue should be resolved.
Fix 3: Update graphics card driver
The missing or outdated graphics card driver in your laptop can cause the black screen, so you should verify that the graphics drivers in your laptop are up to date, and update those that aren't.
Note: You'll need to log into your computer to perform these method. If you can't log into your computer, boot your laptop into Safe Modewith network, then follow the instructions below.
You can manually search for the latest version of your graphics driver from the manufacturer, and download and install it in your computer. This requires time and computer skills. We recommend this if you're confident with your computer skills.
If you don't have time or patience, you can do it automatically with Driver Easy.
Driver Easy will automatically recognize your system and find the correct drivers for it.You don't need to know exactly what system your computer is running, you don't need to risk downloading and installing the wrong driver, and you don't need to worry about making mistake when installing.
1.Downloadand install Driver Easy.
2.Run Driver Easy and click the Scan Now button. Driver Easy will then scan your computer and detect any problem drivers.
3.Click the Update button next to the flagged graphics device to automatically download the correct version of the driver (you can do this with the FREE version), then install the driver in your computer.
Or click Update All to automatically download and install the correct version of all the drivers that are missing or out of date on your system (this requires the Pro version - you'll be prompted to upgrade when you click Update All).

4.After updating, restart your computer to take effect.
Check and see if your laptop screen works properly.
Fix 4: Check for virus and malware
Note: You'll need to log into your computer to perform these method. If you can't log into your computer, boot your laptop into Safe Mode with network, then follow the instructions below.
Your Acer laptop screen may be black if your system has been damaged by virus or malware.
So run a virus scan across your entire Windows system. Yes, it may take some time to complete, but it's worth it. Unfortunately, Windows Defender may not detect it, so it's worth trying another antivirus program such as Avira and panda.
It any malware has been detected, follow the instructions provided by the antivirus program to fix it.
Then restart your computer as normal and see if it fixes your black screen issue.
Fix 5: Update BIOS
BIOS stands for Basic Input Output System. It's a software that is stored on a small memory chip in the Motherboard of your computer. BIOS is used to identify and troubleshoot the hardware issue in your computer or laptop.
To update your BIOS, go to Acer support page, find the BIOS file for your Acer laptop model. Download it into your USB drive, and follow the instructions provided by Acer to update BIOS.

My laptop Lenovo g400.when I turn on my laptop its functioning but after 3 hours or less iturn off my laptop but when I I turn on again there is no screen display its all black but the power led is and...

Restart your computer and then press and hold F8 keys until you get Advanced Options menu screen.Use the arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, and then press Enter, your computer will boot automatically to safe mode.
If you able to start in the safe mode then Scan your computer for viruses. Some viruses can cause a black Screen , especially ones that infect the master boot record (MBR) or boot sector.
Update drivers for your hardware. black Screens are hardware or driver related so updated drivers could fix the cause of the STOP error.
Return BIOS settings to their default levels. An overclocked or misconfigured BIOS can cause all sorts of random issues, including black screen.
If it doesn't helps you then simply get the system utility program like PC Fresher that will fix windows errors that cause of black screen screen

How to clean computer when has virus

Virus removal can be quite tough depending on which virus it is and how well it's established.

Disconnect your computer from the internet, power it up and keep pressing F8. It will show a black screen with white writing, select Start your computer in "Safe Mode" lots of white writing will come up on the screen, this is normal. It will eventually start up, but will look odd. This is also normal. In Safe Mode windows only starts programs needed to run the computer at is minimal amount. You will now be able to open up your anti virus and scan for viruses.

After, shut your computer down and start it up normally, run a scan again to make sure. then download Malware Bytes, install that and scan again.

If this doesn't work you may need to take it to a computer repair shop.

Hope it helps

My 5640 will not boot no signal to moniter or key board canot use recovery disc hard drive still running it was running then I got the black screen

Well, sounds like bad luck for you. No, seriously, could you have gotten a virus? We can get you out of this, but it will take a little fiddling inside your computer.
Take the skin off the system. Look for where your Hard Drive is mounted, usually above or below the Floppy drive ( if you have one ). Pull out the 4 pin DC connector going into your hard drive - it has red, Yellow, black and orange for SATA drives and red black black yellow for IDE drives. Fire up your computer and boot from CD or DVD. Go through your BIOS setup if you must.
From boot, do not say you want to reformat or anything nasty, just try to look around your bios screen for anything weird. You can plug in your SATA drive hot if you want, to see if it will spin up and show data on C: Write me back when you have done these steps.
