I have audio but the screen is black on my television. I want to know if what you think the problem is, will be covered by my 5 yr extended warranty plan that I paid an extra $500 for less than 3 years ago. I have a 60" LG plasma tv.

  1. Can you access the TV's menu? If so, have you tried the various Video inputs, and resolution rates 480p, 480i, 720p, and 1080i. Sometimes the set will be able to decode one resolution, and not the others.
  2. Unplug the power to the TV and the cable box for 5 minutes.
  3. Plug the power to the TV and the cable box back in, wait 2 minutes for the cable box to boot up and see if your picture returns.
  4. Re-seat all the connections on your TV and your Cable box, as they can disconnect over time. If you still have no picture, there is likely an issue with the Plasma TV and a warranty repair will be required.

Sansui HDLCD2612 LAST NIGHT THE PICTURE WENT WHITE WITH HORIZONTAL BLACK LINES..MAKES A BOOP BOOP BOOP NOISE one and a half yrs old no extended warranty. Is this a throw away

Firstly, the extended warranty is a very cheap insurance, because the labor could be as high as $168/hr. Instead of putting $200+ in this unit, I would purchase another with 3-5 yr warranty.

The SONY LCD TV is 2 1/2 Years old about 6 months ago I noticed a very light pink 3in vertical line, now after the tv is on for about 30 to 45 min the line is black. does any one have a clue how to fix...

Hello,
The line or dots on an LCD screen are because of dead pixels and tolerable upto a certain limit as per policy of the manufacturer. But line is not permissible and should be changed in the warranty support. The isssue you are reporting is the vertical line and the the film is to be changed. So if the set is not in warranty it might be a big expense as there is no way to fix it at home.
Thanks

Hello.
I am certified SONY Technician and I can help you for free.
Self-diagnostic function in your TV indicated that you have problem with T-CON board. This is video processing board attached to the panel and acting as video adapter between Main board and LCD panel itself. As long as I remember T-CON is considered to be a part of LCD Panel by SONY and have to be covered by manufacturer warranty for 2 years from date of purchase.
So - please locate your receipt form the store - they WILL ask for it.
Have a good day!

TV flashes to black and back again, no remote control operation..

I had the same part replaced in my KDF-42WE655 (3 YEARS OLD) television about 6 months ago and it was covered under an extended warranty by Sony because of a defect found in the part after manufacturing which Sony found will malfunction after time causing multiple issues with the television. My issue was the bottom of the screen started to get a blue dot that was getting progressively bigger. I bought the extended warranty from Best Buy and the problem was fixed no charge but the technician told me that Sony is aware of this issue and they extended the warranty on this part because of it. I would start by calling Sony and letting them know of this issue and see if it's covered under this extended warranty. Hope this helps

This is either a logic problem or a connection problem within the display controls. I have sen this with a power suppy problem as well. Since the picture was fine before the outage, it is unlikely to be the panel. Anything else should be covered under the extended warranty.

BROKEN

your warranty only covers manufactures defects not user damage.. take your phone in to the store to have it checked out.. The mfg warranty is only 1 yr unless you have purchased the extended warranty.

Cracked Plasma screen

yes a plasma panel can be replaced but the cost on the panel is about 70% of the total sets price( not economical) and i dont think any manufacture or extended warranty will cover a repair like that its concider as a physical or cosmetic damage (sorry)

Black out?!?!?

I finally got information from the repair shop. Apparently it is the upper and lower panel drive. The parts are supposedly not more than a couple hundred dollars, though I'll let you know when I get the bill. I do want to say that Hitachi was great when I called them. Even though my plasma is out of warranty by a few months, they agreed to pay for parts if I pay for labor. That just might keep me buying Hitachi products despite the issues I've had with my 2 plasmas.
