Delonghi de400p The bucket is bone dry and no water is being pumped through the drain hose. this unit is almost 1 year old. I have the humidity set for 45% the fan works and im not getting any error codes. why did the unit stop working all of a sudden???

all this info is in the manual. Either you threw it away or are a person who does not like to read.

* There is a sensor switch under the drain bucket. This senses if there is a bucket present and it will turn off the unit once it's full of water.

* You must place the bucket in the right position for the unit to come on. The attached hose must move freely up and down to prevent the bucket from being weighed down and turning off the unit as it thinks the bucket is full. Lifting the hose a bit up and down will give you an idea if it's too heavy.
* Final; there is an adjustment knob in the front to determine how dry the air you want. I've used this unit to dry out wet carpets in a room so it's set at max and usually takes about 1-2 days to dry out a room (in Hawaii with 60% humidity). You will need to set this up and adjust it for your purpose.

There is supposed to be an auto-shutoff float in the bucket to prevent overfilling of the bucket. You have either removed it or it is defective. The fact that it runs constantly has more to do with the humidity and the setting that you have the unit set to, Obviously there is adequate humidity in the space or the bucket would not fill. You need to look for, find, and repair the shut-off float, or, if possible, some units allow you to connect a drain hose either to the bucket or directly to the unit to drain the water to a drain. If you choose this option, remember that the hose must remain lower than the top of the bucket or it will not drain properly and the bucket will still overflow.

There's a pointy gray nub above the end of the tube. Slide the tube onto that and it should fix the problem.

You seem to have done most of all the right things, so that means the problem may be the basement. Along with a couple of other things. All are totally solvable.

1. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

2. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

3. The hose is partially clogged or the hose connection on the unit and it interior tubing may be
partially clogged. Turn the unit OFF and unplug it.
Using an appropriately sized, 18" long, plastic Zip Tie, carefully insert the tip of Zip Tie into the hose connection and tubing. Continue to push it in until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly work the Zip Tie past this bend, until it either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly pull the Zip Tie back out while rotating (twisting) it. This will breakup any clogs. As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared, as some water may follow. Reconnect the hose, plug the unit in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity extraction level to 35% or Maximum if you have a manually controlled unit. Allow the unit to run, while you monitor it for any leakage.

NOTE: If you don't have a Zip Tie, you may use something similar ( i.e.a long pipe cleaner), but NO wire coat hangers

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity condenser sensor is failing. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it can happen.

What is the specific problem? Is no water being collected by the dehumidifier or do you have another issue?

Make sure that the dehumidifier is in a room in the operating temperature range (at or above 44 degrees F). Make sure that the room door and windows are closed and that the room is not larger than 2200 square feet. Make sure that the collection bucket not full and is properly seated in the dehumidifier. Check and clean the air filter on the dehumidifier. (Vacuum the filter or rinse under running water three times. Then wait until dry to replace it in the dehumidifier.) Look at the coils of the dehumidifier. If you have ice on the coils, defrost the unit (turn off, unplug and wait for it to melt). If the ice reforms quickly, you may have a leak in the coolant system. Then the unit needs repair.

Next make sure that you have good air flow around the dehumidifier and that the desired humidity set point is lower than the humidity of the room.

If you look above the tubing, there's a little gray nub/cone thing. Slide the tube onto that and it should fix the problem. If you're trying to use the pump instead of the collection bucket, there are good directions in the manual.

the evaporater coils rot out and the freon leaks out. thats about all the longer these newer ones last now.

low on freon is the compressor running?
