NO SOUND The TV was working earlier in the day, and now there is no sound!!! When we turn up the volume, the sound clicks as the volume rises but thats all. We have Direct TV hooked up to the TV. The TV is about 8-9 years old and this is the first problem we've had with it. I was watching tv when the sound went off. You can hear a clicking sound when you turn volume up and down. I am cable connected, and also have dvd. I still have sound when I play my dvd, but no sound when just the tv is on. The tv is not muted. The speakers are on, because I checked the audio output and speakers control panel in the audio menu. This is the first problem I've had with it.

I tried the solution, unplug and replug tv, it didn't work.

  • Telewriter Jul 20, 2008

I had the same problem, just started today, only on one receiver - the others are fine. Plugging and unplugging didn't work, reset didn't work. Is this a Direct TV problem then? Kind of odd I'm not the only one whose sound just quit TODAY!

My 32 RCA was on and a watching a program on Direct tv and I could hear a click sound and the sound went off and just made a clicking sounding with trying to change volume. Well after reading suggestions here to correct the problem I turned power off to the tv a few minutes and now I have volume. Thanks alot to persons who gave that advice but why do you think this happened.

How do I turn up volume on HP computer?

If I understand correctly, you had a tech assisting you earlier and he turned off the sound and now you want to turn it back on - is that right?
Check in the lower right corner of your monitor for the speaker icon. If you see a red circle with a line over the speaker it means the tech just muted the sound. Click on the Speaker icon and open the volume control - you will be see the Mute option and just click on it.

If it is more, and I misunderstood your initial description, please respond with the model of your computer, the operating system and what the tech was called in for in the first place.

Sound not working, Was working earlier today and after shutting off the tv, when we turned it back on, sound wasen't working

Sound issues and answersa short list:

sound on set or a box muted or turned down?

speakers inside the set (see menu) switchedon or off?

internal/external switch somewhere in or on back of set?

Clearly it could be a audio problem (a model number?) but explore all here thatyou have not already done--make sure theremote set to TV and look for a button on it marked MTS and if there cycle it.

You can also determine if same trouble when you play a DVD.

No sound at all. running windows xp After updates in windows updater a couple days ago I have been experiencing no sound through my laptop speakers.

if it happened after you updated your windows than restore your computer to an earlier time and that will resolve the problem.

if not than,

Click on start >> go to control panel >> double click on system >> click on hardware tab >> click on device manager >> right click on sound drivers and click uninstall >> then click on scan for hardware changes and than check if it works.

Volume not working

You have lost your audio driver. Go to manufacturers web site, help and support center, and download the new driver. That should fix your problem

The sound has quite working

First, NEVER turn the volume all the way up to see what's wrong. If HALF volume doesn't work you're only risking a catastrophic speaker blowout if you should suddenly flick the switch that's causing the problem with FULL volume on.

Look for the MUTE or Volume +/- controls on the remote and indicators.

JVC 42 inch LCD HD TV has no picture or sound

utencilio posted this fix. It worked for my JVC LT-42X579.

Okay, I found a fix! Called JVC, spoke to somebody there, here it is:
1)unplug the TV completely, no wall no power strips, completely
2)wait 10 sec
3)plug TV back in and Turn it on, the light will still be doing the same thing
4)wait 30 sec
5)ON THE TV, not the remote, locate the menu, volume (-) and power button.
6)while simultaneously holding down the menu and volume (-) button, pressed the power button ONCE and continue to hold the other 2 for 10 sec.
7)on the remote control, go to menu>settings>system info
*** now this I know as a FACT will work on systems that display: JVC - ver.5.32FO001, but I don't know of any other versions***
8)press the mute button on the remote twice
9)unplugg TV again and wait 10 sec.
10) plug TV in and turn on

It SHOULD be working normally now... Thanx to the guys a JVC support for this one, I know it seems like an obvious first place to look, but sometimes it isn't. I for one checked online forums first
