Yeah,
you need installation CD, or bootable usb if your CD rom doesnt work...
Do not forget the drivers, to work your components properly,
use your driver CD's, or this tool: Driver Update
Best of luck

Download and run the Windows Upgrade Advisor:

Asus does not provide W7 drivers for the X83V per se. However, Vista drivers have been known to work in W7. The WUA will let you know, just make sure you have everything that you are going to use plugged into the computer, including things like printers and stuff, before running WUA.

Based on the specs of the laptop, it should be fully capable of upgrading to windows 7. If you have windows xp, then to upgrade without loosing info, you will need to upgrade to vista first, then 7. if you have vista, then you can upgrade directly to windows 7 without any problem.

Personally recommend you going https://www.facebook.com/Office-2011-for-MAC-Key-1799093256986418 to get product keys for your windows 7, keys in this site are of good quality and in low price.

You can download the audio and device drivers from ASUS WEB site. Select your model motherboard/computer/laptop, and make sure you select drivers that matches your Windows operating system. Please click on this link to their WEB support site : - http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

Asus x83v won't boot up

Unplug the machine, remove battery, leave the battery out, plug in the machine, try to boot normally. If the fails unplug, plug in, push the on/off button and IMMEDIATLY start tapping the F-11 REPEATEDLY. Enter restore/recovery section select a date before this problem started and restore. If that fails do a system recovery to factory settings. Or if you have a Windows Vista repair disk, Windows Vista Install disk that you can use to repair

Dear colleague, I tried to upgrade the OS of my

Is your ASUS Windows 7 compatable? Check at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/en-us/default.aspx

Since your distribution was school wide, there must be some IT department at the school that can assist you with this repair and advice.

Be aware, many manufacturers provide special features on their products (through software modification) that are not from Microsoft. You indicate this upgrade is from by the school but you don't say whether it is a standard or modified edition. Once you change the operating system, such as you have, those special XP - Asus features will disappear UNLESS (1) Asus includes the features with the new release of Win 7 Enterprise, andand yo have it, or (2), ASUS makes those features available to upgraders for download.

Excuseme,I don't speak english, but I need the audio driver for motherboard ASUS P4GE-MX for windows 7 32bit. You can answer me in this address e-mail: [email protected] thanks

Have you checked with ASUS TechSupport? That is a very old System Board and most likley does not support Windows 7 and Asus most likley has no plans to release any. I recommend buying a newer model of system board, which will require newer CPU, RAM and video card to successfully implement Windows 7 and find drivers more easily.

Check this Asus forum post with similar question:

http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20081208025209781&board_id=1&model=P4GE-MX&page=1&SLanguage=en-us

Also not sure if you tried running the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor before you upgraded.

http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx

it most likely would have advised against installing Windows 7 on the current system and recommended what you would need to upgrade first.

Good Luck!

Asus x83v screen is black and has vertical lines on half of it.

As the product is under a year old it should be covered under warranty. Get in touch with asus customer services before you let anyone attempt a repair as doing so may invalidate your warranty
