Model 13618 cordless hammer drill, drill will not run when you pull the switch. If you tap on the drill case with a hammer it will start to run, and will keep running untill you let go of the switch, then it will not run again. Should I order a switch or just buy a new drill?

BLACK+DECKER drill quickly replaced my cordless drill for all of the heavy duty tasks, and it continues to be a great "work horse". More details about the drill Best Hammer Drill
Make sure it is in low gear on drill mode. try with just a bar in the socket and hit the end to shock it. This is sometimes better than a constant force.
The hammerdrill function is set by the selector switch, the switch itself may look fine from the outside, but, if it is not switching functions, you should open the hammerdrill and check the switching mechanism, even if you don't have an idea of how it works, after a visual inspection to the switching mechanism, common sense will tell you what's wrong, it is actually pretty simple.
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.
JUST NEEDS A NEW SWITCH, EASY TO CHANGE WITH A LITTLE PATIENCE. YOUR LOCAL SERVICE CENTER CAN SELL YOU ONE OR WALK YOU THROUGH IT!! THE OTHER THING IT COULD BE IS THAT THERE IS A CHUNK OF DEBRIS IN THE TOOL OR THE HOUSING IS JACKED UP WERE IT HOLDS THE SWITCH INTO PLACE! I HAVE SEEN ALL SORTS OF THINGS HOLDING UP SWITCHES IN CORDLESS TOOLS!!!!! WORSE CASE IT WILL COST YOU AROUND $50 FOR A NEW SWITCH POSSIBLY ALLOT LESS. THANKS JIMS TOOL SERVICE
Chech and see if the top selector is fully engaged, if it is, then you will have to replace the gearbox assembly. Any Bosch service dealer will have this part
Yes, check the brushes on the motor, see if they can be replaced - I don't know your drill, but some can be checked without pulling the case apart - look for a round slotted cover on the sides near the rear of the drill
