You are the thrid person in the last couple of days with this same problem and i check who was posting the problems all differant people all RYOBI 18V lithium-ion batterys and they all got them for christmas. SOMETHING is not right there is now warranty on the batterys but there is one on faulty workmenship there must be a problem with this type of battery good luck
Make it fourth. My RYOBI 18V lithium-ion battery used on a hedge trimmer was used for only 4 to 5 hours max. Charger works, goes through cycle, and shows a green full charge light, but the battery is dead
All i know is if the charger is green then its good . The lithium ion from RYOBI have a problem and there is a recall on the . You need to go to there web site and deal with them but your not the olny person a lot of people are in the same boat . Good luck with it
I just bought mine a week ago and charged both batteries that come with the kit and used them for a couple of minute(both) and get the exact same problem. Put it on the charge and eventually both lights, red and green will flash. Tried charging them but use them for a couple of minutes and appliance will stop and only continue to work for 5 sec and stop.
It s possibale there is a problem with the charger but i dought it . There is foctory recall on there batterys . Your question was 4 months old but now i know there is a recall its a class action thing caLL RYOBI they know about it and you will get new batterys for free . It may take a little time but they have consedied the problem .Good luck john
I just bought a replacement 18v 4ah LI-ION batter two days ago.. put it in the SMARTCHARGER.. and tonight just before I was getting into the shower my smoke detectors went off all around the house... I ran around the house looking for the cause and found my workbench on fire.. the battery had exploded and caught fire.. had I not been home to put out the fire my house would have burnt to the ground!. Now to find out what Ryobi is going to do about this.
