The first thing to check is if you put in four AAA batteries. No, I'm not being condescending. When you open the battery lid on the underside of the horse, you will see slots for only two AAA batteries. This compartment actually comes out (pull the tab in the middle). Put in the four batteries, and put the compartment back in, ensuring that it's in the right way (the two contact pads need to be in the front). From there, you can push the horses head to have her walk (smooth surfaces only), pull the hind legs back or press her tail to winnie, etc.
If you still need the manual: http://service.mattel.com/us/product_detail.asp?id=N3286&Ntt=N3286&Pn=1&Brand=Barbie&Cat=Barbie+Accessories%2fFashions%2fPlaysets
Some clarifications on my first post (my daughter just got this from her grandparents this Christmas also, so I'm learning as I go)...
I forgot to mention that there is a button in front of the tail/back of the saddle, that must be depressed for the horse to be "on". If you have all four batteries in correctly and the button depressed down, the horse should be ready.
To make the horse walk, put it on a smooth surface (linoleum, hardwoods, tabletop, etc.) and push the "mane" button on the horse's forehead. To make the horse whinny, pull the tail back at it's base. The horse won't actually jump, but it's front legs will extend out in a jumping motion when you pull the back left hind leg (it also whinny's when you do this) or when you pull on the reins.
Hope this helps.
Thank you so much. My 6 year olds showed up with a screwdriver, before I realized where the batteries went...duh. This was a huge help!! Thanks again!

Hi
I have bought my niece one of these horses (used) for Christmas, the seller says it does not walk anymore, which I dont mind, but the frint leg is stuck in a bended position and it cannot really stand properly without this.
Does anybody know how this can be repaired?
