Write Protection on any portable USB Device can be applied by the physical lock provided on the card adjuster or some times provided on the pen drives, so make sure to make your drive not write protected by moving the lock in right direction.

But even after moving the physical lock for write protection the problem can happen due to some virus action. This happens when some virus or script which applies the registry hack to make any drive write protect when connected to the computer, In that case follow the procedure below to remove write protection from your pen drive.

1. Open Start Menu >> Run, type regedit and press Enter, this will open the registry editor.

2. Navigate to the following path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies

Note: If the registry key StorageDevicePolicies key does not exist, you will need to create it

Download this batch file called add.bat from here, and double click after download the key will be automatically added to registry.

3. Double click the key WriteProtect in the right pane and set the value to 0 in the Value Data Box and press OK button

4. Exit Registry, restart your computer and then again re-connect your USB pen drive on your computer. That is it, done.

Hi I have a transcend jetflash d33193 4Gb flash that won't format. It tells me the flash is write protected and i don't she any physical lock. i have tried every possible thing i know on it but it...

The message which you are facing while formatting your flash drive maybe be due to below reasons.
1) It could be due to virus. Try to scan your flash drive with your anti-virus and check.
2) Second reason would be when you connecting your flash drive it may include some autorun files which starts its own when you connect your flash drive and because that file is running it wont allow to be formatted, so try to delete all the files including in your flash drive and than try formatting.
or
There is right protect switch on many pen drives , a physical write protect switch which enables you to either allow writing on the disk or disallow writing on the disk.

All you need to do is toggle the right protect switch and you would be able to write files on your pen drive.

I reformat my transcend 8gb d33193 pen drive, however, instead of freeing space, it just adding more used space. Now my pendrive was empty of files but only 319 mb free of space. Please help.

When u r formating your pen drive you have to chose "default allocation size" in Allocation unit size option, than format the pendrive.

USB 16 GB transcend says disc is write protected!!

You should try to delete the partition in the Transcend memory stick and creat a new partition. You should copy any files that you need off this memory device before you re-partition it because you will lose all the data that is stored on the device.

Go to the Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Magament.
Scroll down until you see your removeable device the 16Gb memory device, click once on this, It may not show it as Healthy.
Right click in this disk (make sure you do not select the C drive) and click on Delete Partition to remove the partition.
Right click on this unpartition drive and Create a partition.
You may not have to format this partition, it should now show this as a healthy drive.
Exit out of Disk/computer Management and Control Panel.

The USB drive should now function normally.

File format error - Transcend T.sonic 610(1gb)

I had the same problem. I had formatted the player's drive using Windows explorer and the got this error: "File Format error" while trying to play any mp3 file.
I went to the command prompt. Deleted all files:
E:\> del *
Then I copied the MP3 files again in the T.sonic MP3 player. All MP3 files played fine after this.
