I put new batteries in my cordless phones, and none of them will hold a charge. I have unplugged units and removed batteries and then re-installed and let charge overnight. Still, only a minimal charge on some, and none at all on others. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks so much.
Regardless if the batteries are new or not, if they don’t hold a charge they are totally defective
The problem is probably the AC adapter. If you have a voltmeter you can see what voltage is on the adapter output plug going to the base unit. Unplug the small plug from the base unit and measure. Since the batteries are 3.6 v, the power adapter plug needs to be something greater. Maybe 4.5 v. It should say on the AC adapter what it puts out (volts and max current). Usually the center is negative and the outside barrel of the plug is positive. Put the volt meter to 5v DC and put the black lead in the plug center and the red lead to the outside barrel of the small plug. If you measure a negative voltage, switch the leads. Make sure the Volt meter is not in current mode or you will be shorting the adapter at its output plug. If you get a reading larger the 4 volts then the problem is probably inside the base. There should be some circuitry to minimize charging current to the battery,.

On the handset, you need to go into the menu, choose register, press and hold the intercom button on the handset and the page button on the base unit at the same time until it tells you that it is registered.
SOURCE: My handset won't charge
Try charging it in a different cradle if you have more than one handset. This has happened to me where a particular base will not charge a particular phone. Once charged elsewhere the problem resolved.
SOURCE: Hi, The battery on my cordless phone does not
I don't usually recommend Radio Shack for anything but they do seem to keep a good supply of batteries like this around. There are also many on-line sources for these that may be less expensive, around $3-7 each on ebay with shipping for example.
When the base and handset stop talking to each other, it is generally because of a power interruption. Modern cordless phones transmit a security code from handset to base, when you start a call. This helps reduce the likelihood that you and your neighbor will be talking over each other, if your phones are on the same channel. If they get out of sync, usually the phone will just beep "out of range."

Same exact problem ... same exact model. I tried swapping with other identical phones in the house ... problem ensues.
