The Infamous Kodak 5300 "Printhead Missing or . . ." Error Message

OK, tried everything I read such as:

1. Removed and reinstalled print head and ink cartridges

2. Unplugged printer for 2 minutes

3. Replaced ink with new color and black cartridges

4. Downloaded Firmware and Easyshare Software

5. Rebooted computer with printer's power cable and USB cables disconnected.

All of the above and still the same error. What's next?

How do you install the update as the updater will not work until the fault has been cleared!

You need a new printhead from Kodak AiO support. After that is in and you do not have the error message anymore, download the latest firmware at www.kodak.com/go/5300downloads

Kodak 5300 shows "color ink cartridge needs replacing",even with new cartridge, and new printhead..Ink level display shows color cartridge empty, and its brand new..

Try this one
Take out the inks and printhead
Leave the cartridge door open, then unplug the power cord from the back of the printer while the access door is open
Close the cartridge door once the cord is unplugged
Reconnect the powercord, turn on the printer, then your printer will look for your printhead "Printhead missing or not installed correctly..."
Then put everything back. make sure it will snap in to place. Then print a calibration page, then scan it. This is just over writing the error message.

Error message: Printhead missing, not installed correctly or has come loose

In regards to the error message with the printhead missing or come loose......I had that issue just shortly after I installed my printer. I was going crazy trying to fix it taking it out and reinstalling which was a pain, removing the cartridges and then the printhead to no avail. Finally I got smart and disconnected the power cord from the printer itself, not directly from the outlet. Once I did that and turned the printer back on the error was gone. It might have been a fluke, but it worked for me, so you might want to try it.

Kodak 5300 first said error 3802 now says print head missing or loose

I got the same Problem as listed above. This is the way how I was able to solve it:
  • Remove the color and black ink cartridges and the printhead. (the 5300 Printhead can be removed by pressing a button on top of the carriage and a slight pull --> for better instructions use this official Kodak PDF)
  • Try to clean the printhead and the carriage with a slighty wet cloth from ink. CAUTION!: better not touch the green electronic chip! Be carefull while cleaning.
  • Reinstall the printhead and the ink cartridges.
  • If the printer detects a 'new' printhead just do a calibration and your are done. If not try to print a test page.

Hope this solves the Problem. Best wishes

Printerjam

A paper jam error message will appear if the printhead is not correctly installed. Try removing and reinstalling the printhead again, but make sure it snaps into place. Try loading a sheet of plain paper and press at the same time copy+cancel; hold them down until the printer feeds the paper. The paper will go through the rollers and come out blank.

Kodak easy share 5300 all in one printer

Kodak website has instruction manual that you can download. It tells you how to remove and reinstall the printhead. Basically you remove the ink tanks first by pressing the lever at the front and angling them upward. Once both the inks are out you press on a lever on the upper left side of the printhead (the black thing the ink cartridges were resting in). That lets the printhead come out. Now the tricky part is to get it back in. You put the printhead back in until it clicks and then gently put in the ink cartridges. I say gently because if you press too hard you may cause the printhead to become loose which means you will have to start over again. Everything "clicks" when it is in correctly.
