I have the Wireless-G WRT54G2. It worked fine for 2 years. It has never been moved or changed in that time. It will not connect to the internet. The internet light is blinking & the main power light is orange instead of green. I tried the reset button with no luck. Also disconnected, waited, and reconnected all cables with no luck. Have tried numerous times connecting and reconnecting the router & also rebooting the PC many times. Is there anything else I can try or is the router broken & needs replaced? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Slow internet speed when connected to router

So, If you have internet connection speed problem with your wireless try with the following steps,
1.)Reset the wireless router by using the power switch on it or by unplugging it and plugging it back in.
2.)Place the wireless router in an ideal location. The higher it is, the better, but don't put it near metal objects.
3.)Get as close as possible to the router with whatever device you're trying to connect.
4.)Keep the router and your connecting device away from other electronics. You should especially keep away from phones, fax machines and microwaves. etc.,
5.)Adjust the Wifi antenna if it has one.
6.)Change the router's channel, especially if other wireless routers are nearby.Following these steps would give you stable internet connection and also increased speed in connection. You can check your internet speed from www.ScanMySpeed.Com before and after following these steps.

Hi

The Router configuration is not that much difficult, only few thing you have sure,
1) Correct ADSL Connection User name & password,
2) Chose unique ip address in All host.

Follow the mention bellow instruction to configure and connect to Wifi Router,

  • Plug the network cable ( Mine was Blue ) which comes with the Router Box pack to your computer. The other end goes into any of the Router Ethernet Port ( 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 )
  • Now type in 192.168.1.1 in IE or Firefox or any browser. You will prompted for password which is admin. You must be logged into Linksys Router.
  • Now since your ADSL modem is also having the same IP , we will change the IP address for WRT54G2 Router to 192.168.5.1
  • Under Setup >Basic Setup look for Network Setup and Change Router IP. Change to 192.168.5.1 and Save changes.

It sounds like you have your max amount of users reached. You need to go into your router and set the amount of users that can connect to the internet. Either via program on the computer or actually consoling in to the router.

Hope this helps out.

I have a Linksys WRT54G2 Router, It Has Worked Fine For About A Year, And Just Suddenly It Has Problems, The WLaN Light Isn't On At All, The Power Light Is Just Blinking At A Steady Rate. I Can't Access...

Please make sure that Power, Internet and Wireless Light (or LAN light if trying to connect with Ethernet cable) is there on router if you are trying to connect it wireless .
And if only Power light is there only. Please try to power cycle the router ( turn off the router from power supply wait for a minute, plug the power supply back) and then again check the light status.
Even after this if same light status is there please try to reset the router ( there will be small pinhole button on the back side of router) just press it for 15 seconds and then release it.Wait for 2 mins and check the light status again.
It will fix your problem.

Please share the results.

Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem.

WRT54G2 wired desktop fine, can't connect to wireless.

Hi Seth6025,

Try without using Wireless Encryption (password).

Try changing channels; default is 6; try 1 or 11.
Change your SSID: personalize it
SSID broadcast: Enable

Check the advanced wireless settings and make sure MAC filtering - DISABLED.

Reset the Linksys router by pressing RESET for 30 seconds should everything fails and re-configure. Firmware is another consideration BUT this is just a new release.

Angel

Linksys WRT54G2 Wireless router unable to connect to Internet

Try again by Disabling the WEP (or WPA), MAC Address Filtering and Firewall Setting Individually. Should be a problem with one of those. Then when you receive the Signals, try to Adjust using Bottom Up method. That means one setting at a time, Hardening the Security. Have you checked your DNS settings? Have you checked the Channels you are using? Re check them and try again.
Feel free to contact back.
Please rate the answer if it helps you to solve the issue.
