There is a file that can be use to update Cardscan version 8.0 and higher to make it work with any windows 64 bit like 2000, XP and Vista.

    1. First, you need to download and install Cardscan v8.0.1 or later. Older version will not work with 64 bits. It can be download from this link:
    http://www.cardscan.com/support/cs_lostc...

    2. Now, download this file cdscn600c_x64.inf and save it, from this link below
    http://download.cardscan.com/misc/ts/cds...

    3. Copy the appropriate *.INF file cdscn600c_x64.inf or cdscn600c_x64.inf into the following directory CardScan\System\Drivers folder (e.g., C:\Program Files (x86)\Cardscan\CardScan\System\Drivers).

    4. Connect the scanner and use the " Found New Hardware wizard " to install the driver from the CardScan\System\Drivers folder.

    Note:
    The
user will get the warning that the device has not passed the Windows
Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows. Tell him to
    choose "Continue Anyway".

I hope this is the best answer for you. Thank you for using Fixya.

How do I fix this? Unsupported 16-Bit Application

You are trying to run a 32bit version program on a 64bit system, this is not allowed. Try obtaining the 64bit version of the program and load that or alternatively try CutePDF, it works well on any system.

Is Windows 7 compatible with HPlaser jet 1020?

Yes it is compatible with Windows 7. According to Microsoft website, it should be compatible with both 32 bit and 64 bit. You can check it if you want from the list posted below.

Windows Hardware Compatibility List

If you are not sure if your system is 32 or 64 bit, check your system information utility (windows key +, then type msinfo32). If it says something about x86, it is 32 bits or if it says 64 then it is 64 bits. Drivers for both are available below for you to download.
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit) driver
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit) driver

Can not install old version of paper port on 64 bit system

I am assuming you are using one of the newer version of windows, although you don't mention this. There is a free version of paperport you can download over the internet so you might like to try this. With windows you can install 32 bit versions of software onto 64 bit system and they will generally work fine. You should also try using "compatibility" mode which windows uses to help manage programs designed for older version of windows. I have some older software that wont work on anything other than windows XP so I have installed a virtual machine onto my 64 bit computer, then installed windows xp onto the virtual machine, and then installed the software I need to use. This is a bit tedious and time consuming but works perfectly and allows me to use my older software.

You can try running the 16 bit app in compatibility mode. Right click on the app's exe, click on properties, and select compatibility, then tick the box labeled "run in compatibility mode", then select Windows 98 from the now available drop down box.
