I cannot set the menu language to english. I have accessed the menu correctly, but there appears only to be Japanese language. A friend from Japan sent the Sany Xacti as a present. If only Japanese language is on this model is there a firmware patch that can load English.

You need to contact the manufacture and request the english firmware and the update utility..
Simply use the update utility and install the firmware they provided.

Normally it isnt avilable for download, but if you contact them and request it they will provide it.

If there is no option to change language to English then chances are you cant really change it. You can have the phone reformatted but you will have to contact the manufacturer to check for their Authorized servicers or service centers.

If you know to read Japanese then you will have to go the menu and change the language.

but if there is no option to select different language then you cannot change the menu setting by using a firmware patch.

Updating the firmware should put it into English but performing the update in a totally different language might prove challenging. Here are the links below:

Well to say as it was manufactured in Japan and also as your sure that you cannot find any other languages in the language menu option Im afraid to say it just has only japanese language and not Multi-Language options also Im really sorry to say that theres no patch for this my Friend!..
