If you previously created the recovery disc, just insert it and restart the PC, Press F12 when it is in Black screen, It will ask you to choose option to recovery or repair. Choose Recovery and Go ahead in order format full harddisk. or just restart the PC and Press F12 on black screen and choose repair to repair the windows.

SOURCE: how to format my toshiba

Place your original software disk that came with your computer in the tray boot the computer and it will perform the rest. Be sure the BIOS is set to boot from DVD or CD-Rom as first boot. The software will ask you what you want to do. If you do not have the original DVD restore disc set. You will have to do a either a restore computer from a restore point, from the safe mode from another date if you set this up prior, or you will have to completely install Windows or whatever operating software you are using make sure you are booting from the DVD or CDROM drive as the first boot.
If you have not done so already be sure to type in MSCONFIG a the run command and go to system restore and make sure to set a restore point. When you get your machine back up and running it is usually done by default so you may be lucky to be able to restore to the point where you know your machine was working properly without loosing your information. Also be sure to backup files if you can that are important to you always to either a USB External Drive or Stick or a DVD or CDROM always so if you have to do this again you will be able to put your software files and pics or documents back when restore is finished. I also recommend a upload program that you can find that stores files securely for free they give you so many gigs of room to do this.

I have a Toshiba laptop computer with no primary hard drive in it. So, I bought a new hard drive ( EIDE) 2.5" and now I need to know how to format this new hard drive. Thank you.

With laptops you must have the Recovery CD/DVD before you can do anything. If you bought the laptop second hand then you will need to ask the seller for it. Otherwise check with Toshiba support and provide details of laptop (serial no.) etc so that they may be able to ship it.

Once you get the Recovery CD and boot from it, the format process will commence.
Hope this helps.

Hello, I have a Toshiba laptop A200 - EZ2204X with a model number of PSAF4U now my problem exactly that i have got the recovery discs on a DVDs and after that I have lost them .... and now the windows...

Hello,

For recovery disks set, they are available only for purchase. You can buy the recovery disks for your laptop on http://recovery-disks.com/toshiba/toshiba-satellite-pro-a200-ez2204x.html.

What I can suggest if you don't want to pay for these disks is to format and install Windows and then you can install free software like Driver detective to know what drivers you will need. Once you have the list of drivers, you can download them from websites like driverguide.com.

Note that formatting your laptop will result in losing everything you have on it.

Hope this helps.

Full System Recovery

Hello.

As long as you haven't formatted your hard drive or replaced it, it is built into the system. To access it, make sure your computer is turned off. Then:

1. While holding the F8 key, turn the computer on again.
2. The Advanced Boot Options menu will be displayed. Use the arrow keys to select Repair Your Computer and press ENTER.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions from this point onward.

Thanks and please take a moment to give this solution a thumbs up rating with a solution that solved your problem.

RESET

Just go through it and delete everything left behind.

if you want to do a complete format and reinstall then you can use any A100 system disc (borrow one?) download one from the link below.

Problem with using my recovery CD

I dont know which computer you have but some computers have a built in Partition that has a Recovery and can be accesed when you turn on the computer and can do a recovery that way without using the recovery cd's. It all depends if we are talking about windows, or vista or sony, hp, dell , toshiba etc. I can tell you that if you just want to use your recovery disks it will erase all the personal data on your computer unless you back it up before hand, If you dont care about the data you can put the cd into the cd-rom and when the computer boots either press ESC key or F12 for Toshiba / Dell or F10 whichever is the CDROM boot key. Depending on the model sometimes the BIOS default is set to boot off cd rom and you wont have to press anything. After that you can follow the prompts for recovery it should be user GUI (Graphical User Interface ) Friendly.! Hope this answers your question.

Toshiba Satellite L30 System Unit

from the user's manual of toshiba PSL30L -00M00D (i'm using the exact same one):

Restoring the preinstalled software from the
Recovery HDD (Depends on the model you
purchased.)
About 2.5 GB of hard disk space is reserved for the recovery partition.
When re-setting up your hard disk, do not change, delete or add partitions
in a manner other than specified in the manual. Otherwise, space for
software may be destroyed.
In addition, if you use a third-party partitioning program to reconfigure
partitions on your hard disk, it may become impossible to re-setup your
computer.
1. Turn off your computer.
2. Hold down the 0 (zero) key on the keyboard and turn on your computer.
When “In Touch with Tomorrow TOSHIBA” appears, release the 0
(zero) key on the keyboard.
3. A menu appears. Follow the on-screen instructions.
