Hi,

As long as your contacts are saved to your sim then

1- go to settings
2- select mail, contact & calendars
3 - scroll down to import sim contacts

and voila! your contacts will get transferred over :)

Hope this helps!

OK, I found the "import" function and tried it, but the result makes no difference: still a total of 190 contacts in my "All contacts" group, and only 90 in my "on my iphone group". I would have expected this number would be the same. Maybe I am looking in the wrong direction?

sorry i dont understand what you mean? :/ so on your sim you mean you have 190 or in the iphone? and iphone group is that a separate group within your contacts?

Where are my contacts after changing to iphone 3

Unfortunately, the iPhone does not work with contacts saved on your SIM. You need to use the Pam Desktop to move your old contacts to your PC. Then, use iTunes to sync back your Windows Contacts with your new iPhone. If you don't want to use iTunes, you can use a more direct way to copy iPhone contacts directly to the iPhone.

Hi there,
This type of errors occur when you jailbreak your set, if you want to copy your contacts from the sim try with another Sim in your phone, if it gives error with all Sims, then you can copy your contacts in the Outlook and then synchronize your contacts with iPhone,
To copy your contacts to outlook, take any nokia phone capable of connecting with usb to computer and nokia pc suite, make your contacts syncronize with outlook firstly from nokia,
when you got your contacts in outlook , connect your iphone 3g with computer, and itunes will show you your set, then go to info and sync contacts with outlook, click on apply and then sync, all of your contacts will be sync and you will see the contacts in iphone,
If you require more assistance regarding this, feel free to reply to this post

Hi,

Have you tried putting your old sim into another phone then transferring the contacts to the old phone, then putting your new sim in the old phone and copying the contacts onto the sim, then put your new sim (with copied contacts on) into your iphone and import contacts.

sorry if this seems a little confusing!

Hope it helps!!

How do i access or copy my sim contacts from the sim to the phone?

Actually, you can import contacts from SIM to iPhone with simple steps. Just follow below guide.

iPhone doesn't store contacts on the SIM card. If you want to transfer contacts between iPhones, you can use iCloud to backup or transfer content between devices. When it comes to import contacts from SIM card to iPhone, users will only need three simple steps.
  1. Remove the SIM card from the old phone, and install it on your iPhone.
  2. Your iPhone may need to reactivate. If so, connect to iTunes.
  3. Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Import SIM Contacts.
  4. Wait for the import to complete.
  5. If you swapped SIM cards in step 1, remove the SIM card and replace it with your iPhone SIM card.
  6. Open Contacts and make sure that the contacts imported.

The contact information imported from a SIM card depends on how your previous phone stored information on the SIM card. For more help with importing contacts from a non-Apple phone, check the manufacturer's website, app store, or contact your carrier. After doing this, you will get the contacts in your iPhone. Transferring contacts from SIM card to iPhone is easy to be done when users have a suitable SIM card with iPhone. But if the SIM card cannot be recognized by iPhone, what should the users do to import contacts from SIM card to iPhone?
