The "U" indicates Up on the elevation dial, and the "R" indicates Right on the windage dial. Turn the elevation dial clockwise to move the point of impact up, counterclockwise moves down. Similarly, turning the windage dial clockwise moves Right, and counterclockwise moves left. Here's a scan from the Zeiss Conquest manual:
Good luck!

How do i zero my tasco silver antler rifle scope

Start out at 25 yards. the scope is I believe used 1/4 inch clicks. This is for 100 yards so 16 clicks will equal 1 inch at 25 yards. Fire three shoots from a solid rest. Measure the distance left or right and up or down from the desired point of impact. and move the setting in the desired direction. ie uo is moving the point of impact up from where it is. and left or right is the same. Next fire at the desired distance and move point of impact to where you want it at that distance. If the scope is wandering all over the target make sure the scope is not moving in the mounts. If it persist in changing point of impact send it back to tasco for a replacement as it has a loose recticle. Better yet I can recomend Leupold or Burris as a better alternative if they are in your budget. Not quite a S&B or Ziess but **** close for a lot less $$$$$

Groups very good. Everything done right to my

this is all down to the scope mount its not quit center if you dont wont to replace the mount all you can do it "pack out the scope" cut a fuw bit of 35 mm camera film and undo the scope screw caps slip in the film on the side of the scope so you push the eye end over to the right more this will move the scope cross to the left a bit and should sort out the problem

Adjustment Issue

the scope should all ways be fitted with the wind adjustment on the right as you look down the rifle, therefor the top ajuster is for up/down,
right ajuster is wind,,left/right, the easy way to set it up is to aim at some sand with the rifle on a stand or in a jig, shoot one round see were it hits and without moving the rifle, turn the turrets till the cross is over the point were the bullet landed, having a pall to move the turrets for you helps a lot here, the main point is dont move the rifle till the turrets have been moved first,, its that or bore sight it,,, jig the rifle up pointing at a target at say 200yds look down the bore aim the bore at the target lock down the rifle check it by looking down the bore again then set the cross up in the scope on what you see down the bore
you will need to tweek the scope a bit as you havent taken the bullet drop into the ajustment that way,,

Sight adjustments

It's a common misconception that you are moving the bullet's impact on the target... the bullet is hitting where the rifle is pointing and you want to get the scope to look at that very same spot.
To move the scope's reticle up or down, turn the elevation adjustment on the TOP of the scope in the direction you want the scope to look, so if your shooting low, turn the scope's adjustment in the DOWN direction.
If you want to move the direction the scope is looking left or right, turn the windage adjustment on the RIGHT side of the scope left or right to look where the bullet is impacting. To move the crosshairs to the right, turn it right.
Hope this helps, Mark the Gunsmith

Marlin .308 with leopold scope. I've moved the adjustment all the way to the left but still shooting to the right of center??? Could the scope mounting holes on the top of the rifle be crooked? Crooked...

marlin rifles have a right hand twist in them,, they all shoot to the right,,,if you pack out the scope mount with a strip of old 35mm film on the right hand side of the scope body and reclamp the scope you should have the cross hair more to the right side

As the scope is adjusted up or down, the point of impact also moves left or right

As the scope is moved up, the impact moves down. As the scope moves to the side the impact moves to the opposite side. First, set your elevation. A bench clamp is best. After you hit paper, adjust the hairs to meet the hole. Do this repeatedly, until the bullet hits where you aim.
