I have a John Deere 2010 diesel tractor. It won't start because I believe the fuel injector pump is not working. There is fuel at the injectors but it is not being compressed. Is it possible it could be something else? If not, how exspensive of an ordeal is it going to be to replace the pump?

To double check it's a fuel issue use wd-40 spray in air intake and see if it starts. The other thing to check is lift pump. Injection pump would be last thing to be the issue. Do not use starting fluid use wd-40. On any diesel engine.

It is the pump and the pumps are about 1000 dollars. They are not that hard to install. IT should cost about 1500 total.

SOURCE: If I have a small leak on one of the injection

check each injector in turn ( crack it open where the fuel pipe attaches to the injector ) be very carefull you dont get injected ( VERY BAD ) and use a rag to ensure the fuel spray dosent go everywhere , listen for the engine note changing, if it does on each pipe/injector nut this indicates your injectors are ok ,the fuel system maybe drawing air/loosing pressure so then replace your fuel pipe olives which cost pennys and the copper washers on the various banjo bolts /unions

SOURCE: I have a John Deere 2020 diesel. I can't get the fuel pump off

You need to remove the nut under the cover in front of the pump and then borrow a tool from a j.d dealership to pull the coupler off the pump, you may need the dealer to do this because they have a no lend pollicy for their special tools.Hope this helps.

1961 John Deere 2010. starts and runs fine, but engine dies after 5-10 minutes. where should i begin troubleshooting

Seems like a fuel flow (volume) issues but which engine? diesel, gas, or propane.
If you haven't change fuel filters recently, try that first. Then test fuel flow from low pressure pump to the injector pump (diesel) or carburetor (gasoline). Propane has its own unique issues.

I have 6110 john deere it's getting fuel in the crank case what's the normal cause

IPL indicates this engine uses a fuel injection system which is probably uses diesel fuel.

Don't know a lot about fuel injector systems but it is either a leaky injector or leaky injector pump. With my luck it probably would be the pump seals.

2305 john deere want start replaced fuel pump still want start seems like no fire does diesle have fire

diesel work for compression ignition and have only glo plugs to help with starting in cold weather. You will need to bleed the air out of the pump and pressure lines to the injector. Crack the bleed screw on the pump until you get solid fuel then crack the injector line until it drips fuel. re tighten and it should go.

I ran my john deere 790 out of fuel.how do i restart

With diesel, sometimes you have to bleed air out before it will run again. Typically you disconnect the fuel line going to the injector pump, manually activate the fuel pump, or turn over until fuel comes out, then release one or more of the injectors, and turn engine over again. Normally that bleeds enough to start and then the rest of the air gets pushed through.

My john deere 990 wont start. it's not getting diesel to the engine

Check there is adequate fuel to supply engine. Check there is no damage to fuel lines and that the fuel filter is not plugged. Yours is a Yanmar diesel engine withe an autobleed feature which is supposed to bleed the air out of the system automatically. It may incorporate an electric fuel pump also, but some don't. You can prime the fuel system to the injection pump with the manual lift pump if it is equipped with it. After establishing fuel to the injection pump, loosen the nuts that hold the fuel lines onto the injectors approximately1 1/2 turns. Turn the engine over until you see fuel coming from the injector nuts. Tighten the nuts to 24 inch/lbs of torque, start the engine and run at 1/3 throttle untill it runs smooth.

2010 DIESEL, DIESEL FUEL GOES INTO CRANKCASE, A LOT! TRACTOR CAN NOT BE USED, CRANKCASE FILLS WITH FUEL AND SPRAY FROM CRANKCASE BREATHER SYSTEM. 1963, ITHINK.

do you have an injector pump mounted to the engine block? on some the seals on the pump leak letting the fuel go into the engine. only other thing would be the standpipe maybe cracked or broken. it is probally the pump though.not seeing how it's mounted i cant help much more than this.
