My printer canon pixma mp250 keeps showing offline message at my place where as in prints in same condition at office . i actually carried the whole damn thing to try if it worked and it did its like it doesn't talk when its back home . please suggest how to turn it to online mode (mood) whteva ! Go to System Preferences > Hardware > Print & Scan > click on add printer or scanner. Now let the OS search for printer under Default tab.
If it finds your MP250, great. Proceed with adding and delete the old MP250 printer in the list.

Is the Pixma connected to a wireless router (or connected by USB or ethernet cable)? It could be that the router connection failed. Try restarting the router, or repeat wireless connection on the Pixma.

solution :
1. Uninstall driver printer and remove Printer USB cable from computer. After uninstall finish, restart printer.
2. Reinstall driver printer (don't connect printer USB cable to computer). Wait for the install process, until message "connect a printer USB cable to computer". After message appear, connect printer USB cable to computer.
3. Wait process install finish and try to print.

try unistalling the printer drivers and reinstalling them and does it show the printer as offline?

Press your start button in the bottom left corner of your screen. In the search bar search for devices and printers. Find your printer on the list, if there is a duplicate right click the one that is not set as default and click set as default printer. If this doesn't work go here and download the driver for your printer!

I had the same problem - my printer showed that wireless LAN was enabled & my mac showed the printer but said it was offline. I went to preferences, print & fax, hit the + key to add a printer, added the canon printer again, set that printer as my default, did a print command from Word & that created a queue in the new default printer ... and it printed. Deleted the first Canon printer that was "offline." Oh, and I'm not sure if it made a difference, but before what I just described, I checked for software updates after the printer CD install process & uploaded one update.
