Hi, Torpedo Heater Pump Pressure Adjustment
Here are a couple of tips that I wrote that tell you how to troubleshoot a Torpedo or Reddy heater...

I have the same heater, if the nose cone isnt getting cherry red, you have a fuel and or air delivery problem, that will cause the thing to run poorly. Parts are hard to find for that old unit as the company was bought out by DESA and now they're defunked. The nozzle part number is 8715 and will likely change over from a scheu # to a DESA #
When tuned right, these heaters do not smoke, they do not smell and they wont even register on my Night Hawk Carbon Monoxide detector. My 9300 wick heater will though read any wheres up to about 27 parts per million-VERY SAFE. If your air supply is sufficient and your fuel system is fine then I'd consider a nozzle. I'd like to buy your heater for spare parts!
