if that the case, its either yo don't have the original serial key for your windows xp. if ever that is, go and reinstall your xp and try to download a program for the validation of your xp. it will bypass the authentication security and your xp will be authenticated.
This message is telling you that your copy of windows may not be genuine, and you will need to purchase another license
If you believe that your copy is genuine and you have reciept etc to prove then you call microsoft to clear the issue up and they shoud provide you with another Windows key
Seems that you have an invalid copy of windows.... :( only way round it is to but a copy from Microsoft or somewhere else (but microsoft usually cheaper)
Or can switch to a different operating system......
There are cases of valid Windows failing validation so if you are 100% that yours is good, contact Microsoft to sort it for you
Hello there It can easily be done by editing a few registration keys here is how

Hi, For Windows XP Home Restart your computer and before the appearance of the boot screen hit F8 to get the booting option list. From the list select Safe Mode in order to start your computer in Safe Mode. Once the computer has booted in Safe Mode go to Start > Run and type c:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataWindows Genuine Advantage (where C: is usually the system drive). Right click the DATA folder and choose Properties. Now go to the security tab and in the Group or user names section click on Users. In the permission for user section make sure you check all the check boxes under the Allow column: Read & Execute, List Folder Contents and Read. Click OK and then restart the computer. Now you should be able to validate your Windows copy.
For Windows XP Professional In Windows XP professional there is no need to boot in safe mode. Just go to Start > Run and type c:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataWindows Genuine Advantage. There you will find the Data folder. Right click on it and follow this path: Properties > Security tab > Users > Permission for users section and verify the Allow column for all the check boxes to be selected. If not selected, do it yourself.
Now restart the validation process.

If your windows is genuine, then you should not have any problem with validation...then if it says it failed o validate, then you probably have a pirated version of windows...are you using Windows XP or Vista?
you need a valid COA(certificate of authenticity). means you need a valid product key for your operating system. Once you have it, it will solve your problem.
Nothing worked there OneRob but thanks a lot for trying
