My 87 YO mother just bought a Maytag model MBB1952HEW and the thing makes a bunch of NOISE --creaking and popping. The manual talks about this in the first few hours while the refrigerant adjusts. SHE HAS NO ICE MAKER. She has has it for 20 days. Any ideas.

It should nt make any unusual noises after 24 hours running.. If it is still making noise after 20 days there is a problem. Call in for warrenty service..

I would need to hear this noise to ascertain what is causing it. As a guess I would think the rubber bushings in the suspension are in need of replacing. As far as this model it is not sold here in the USA that I know of.
check the strut or top strut bearing for failure
the creaking noise can be from the spring being wound up from turning as the bearing has seized
have it inspected by a specialist suspension shop
it could be you lelft something in the pocket of your pant that fell out an didnt drain out an si in the bottom of washer tub you have to remove the agitator an the basket if you dont know how call a techican ok are try an take a flashlight an see if you see any thing stuck in the bottom are the side of the basket ok
There's a chance that the ball joints need grease. This should help, however once they have started to make noise like that due to lack of grease, they usually have gone bad. Replacement may be the only remedy. Hope this helps.

Clicking/draining sounds when washer is started will be before the washer starts to fill, it will make a series of clicking noises to check the door lock and do a quick drain.
Could it be a rapid snapping and/or popping sound from the rear of the washer during spin. means that Water is being extracted through the drain holes in the spinner and is hitting the outer tub before draining out of the machine.
