Kenmore 22642 Top Load Washer Logo

My Kenmore 22642 washer is leaving lint all over the clothes. If i run them through the dryer, that will remove the lint... but some of my clothes don't go through the dryer. I can't seem to determine if there is a lint trap on this model. I've already tried running vinegar through the machine.

Wash clothes separately whites and light colors together. Darks with liquid detergent. No lint filter on the machine. I have found some powder detergents do not dissolve completely.

Model 41798702891 Kenmore stacked washer/dryer is collecting lint inside the door and putting lint onto the clothes.

I am not much of an expert with dryers but i'll give it a stab. Should there be a filter that catches the lint so that it does not go all over the clothes? Have you got the manual. If not, see if you can find the manual online and see if there is anything mentioned about a lint filter.

Please try and reduce the time for the dryer as it could be due to excess drying or higher RPM.

Kenmore dryer will only work on no heat cycle...any other heat cycle will give pf code. md number 417.84092500

The Kenmore H5T is an electric clothes dryer meant for residential use and manufactured by the Kenmore Company, which manufactures a wide variety of appliances for the home, including refrigerators, dishwashers, microwaves, stoves, and clothes washers and dryers. While most Kenmore clothes dryers work well with only basic care and maintenance, certain problems, such as the dryer not heating, occasionally occur. Troubleshooting this issue may solve the problem without the help of a service technician.
instruction
  • Ensure that the dryer is properly connected to a working grounded power supply. Confirm that the power cord is plugged firmly into the dryer and the power outlet. Reset household fuses or circuit breakers if necessary.
  • 2 Remove the lint screen from the bottom front of the dryer. Pull off all lint so that the filter screen is clean, and replace the lint screen in the dryer.
  • Run the dryer for 5 minutes on a normal cycle and hold your hand under the outside exhaust hood to feel for air movement. If there is no air movement, turn off the dryer and unplug the unit. Disconnect the exhaust vent and clean out any possible obstructions, such as excess lint. Reconnect and confirm that the vent is not kinked or crushed and preventing proper heated air flow.
  • Ensure the dryer is not in a room or outside with ambient temperatures below 45 degrees Fahrenheit. The dryer will be unable to heat properly if the ambient temperature is too low.
  • Avoid overloading the dryer with too many clothes, which will limit proper heat and air flow in the dryer. Make sure the dryer is not set on an "Air Only" dry cycle, which does not provide heat.
  • Contact an authorized service technician if the preceding steps do not resolve the problem.

Cloths coming out with large tears/holes in the fabric

Carefully check the clothes coming out of the washer before you put them in the dryer, so you can at least narrow the problem down to the washer or the dryer.

    Then check back here.

sorry to hear you got one of these. they stopped making that model because of multiple problems. I have seen the lint issue come up with these over and over w/o a solution. I can say if you are not using a dryer to dry getting one will help.

It takes a long time to dry a load of clothes

sounds as if you may have an issue with a blocked/clogged ventin, perhaps wher it leaves the home, a unit that is not able to expell the heat will tend to not dry the clothes properly, 2-3x to dry a good sign of venting issue

is the clothes coming out of the washer with lint on them or after they come out of the dryer ,,,, the washer doesn't take all the lent off ... the dryer does so i would make sure the vent duct is open all the way out of your house and the dryer filter is clean.

    Not Drying

Had the same issue with my Whirpool. If the clothes are getting hot but not drying then there might be a build up of lint in the exhaust duct and/or passage. Once I replaced the the duct and ran a snake with a brush through the passage (my dryer was on 1st floor, vent ran up to 2nd) and cleaned out the lint build up in filter area it worked like new. Also keep in mind if you use dryer sheets they will leave an invisible residue on your lint filter thus restricting airflow. This can lead to the heating element burning out. The lint filter should periodically be scrubbed with a soft brush (an old toothbrush will do) under warm water with detergent (I use Dawn). This should keep the airflow moving through the dryer instead of keeping it in the drum. Hope this helps.
